In 2009, Abbott completed a tender offer for AMO, Inc., a company known for its contact lens care products, for a total of about $2.8 billion. At this point, EyeLife became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Abbott and changed its name to Abbott Medical Optics.
Abbott Laboratories wholly acquired EyeLife, expanding Abbott's product line in ophthalmology.
