Harbin Veken Biotechnology Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Veken Biotech) is a state-owned enterprise directly under the Harbin Veterinary Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (hereinafter referred to as Harbin Veterinary Research Institute), a designated avian influenza vaccine manufacturer and technical support unit of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the only production unit of a full range of avian influenza vaccines in China.
Founded in 1992, Veken Biotech specializes in the research and development, production, sales, technical consultation and service of biological products for animal disease prevention and control, and is a high-tech enterprise with independent legal personality, focusing on the incubation, transformation and post-incubation promotion of scientific and technological achievements of Harbin Veterinary Research Institute.
More than 60% of Veken Biotech employees have college degree or above, including 9 with senior professional titles, 18 with associate senior professional titles, and 63 with doctoral and master's degrees. Among the middle and senior professional titles, the vast majority of them are important completers of scientific and technological achievements obtained by Harbin Veterinary Research Institute.
The company's new site was completed in 2008, and in July 2009, it passed the GMP acceptance of veterinary biological products of the Ministry of Agriculture. The new site covers an area of about 114,000 square meters, with a construction area of 62,000 square meters, a total of 17 production lines, the main equipment is imported, with a high degree of automation and advanced technology. In addition, there are supporting facilities such as national avian influenza vaccine antigen reserve, quality inspection, research and development, animal experiments, and three-dimensional storage.
In 2010, it successfully passed the IS09001:2008 quality management system certification, ISO14001:2004 environmental management system certification and GB/T28001:2001 occupational health and safety management system certification.
Relying on Veken Biotech, the Heilongjiang Veterinary Biological Products Engineering Technology Research Center and the Harbin Veterinary Biological Products Engineering Research Center are operating well. With the approval of the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Engineering Research Center for Animal Biological Products, which was established with Veken Biotech's shares, has also been officially put into operation.
The company now produces more than 40 kinds of products. Among them, the quality of products such as "avian influenza series vaccine", "live (inactivated) vaccine for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome", "inactivated vaccine for bovine flu fever", "live vaccine against pseudorabies" and "live vaccine for swine fever" has reached the leading level in China or in the world. The avian influenza vaccines produced by Veken Biosciences have been widely used in the prevention and control of avian influenza epidemics, solving the effective immunization problem of different poultry species and making important contributions to the prevention and control of avian influenza epidemics in China. At present, Veken Biotech's avian influenza vaccine has been widely used in Vietnam, Egypt and Indonesia.
