JTEKT was founded in 1921 as Koyo Precision Co., Ltd. and as Toyota Co., Ltd. in 1941.Koyo Seiko has developed over the decades to become one of the world's top bearing manufacturers based on the production of bearings, which are known as the "rice of the industry". In addition to bearings, Koyo Seiko also succeeded in developing the world's first electric power steering (EPS) in 1988, which was mass-produced and installed in Suzuki's Cervo, a compact car.
Toyota Koki is one of the world's leading machine tool manufacturers with customers all over the world. In addition to industrial machine tools, Toyota Koki is also engaged in the production and sales of automotive steering gears and drive parts. In 1998, the company began producing electronically controlled four-wheel drive couplings (ITCC) in a broad and in-depth industry, and in 2003 acquired the TORSEN division of Bosch Automotive.
Since the merger of Koyo Seiko and Toyota Koyoda in January 2006 to form the new JTEKT Corporation, we have been working with local suppliers in China and local suppliers in China to create and sell JTEKT brand automotive steering gears and drive parts, Koyo brand bearings for various industries, and TOYODA brand machine tools. At present, JTEKT has 25 local companies, 1 sales and regional headquarters company, 6 bearing production plants, 8 auto parts production plants, 1 TOYODA machine tool production and sales company, 2 science and technology research and development centers and 7 group affiliates in China, with more than 5,500 employees in China.
