Chrysanthemum
Hangzhou Baiju has a reputation in Hangzhou that is not inferior to Longjing tea. It should be noted that the origin of Hangzhou white chrysanthemum is located in Tongxiang City, Jiaxing City, not Hangzhou. It is said that in the 20s of the last century, the white chrysanthemum in Tongxiang, Zhejiang Province was marked by tea merchants as "Hangzhou West Lake Jinlun Tea Chrysanthemum Village" and sold to Malaysia, Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries. With the increasing sales of white chrysanthemum in Southeast Asia, the word "Hangzhou" in the chrysanthemum mark has become synonymous with Tongxiang white chrysanthemum. In 2007, the State Trademark Office issued an announcement that the "Tongxiang Hangbaiju" certification trademark was officially approved for registration, and determined that the "Tongxiang Hangbaiju" certification trademark was used for planting in 10 towns and towns and streets including Wutong, Fengming, Longxiang and Wuzhen in the administrative area of Tongxiang.
Hangbai chrysanthemum has been planted in Tongxiang City for nearly 400 years. The local area is the alluvial plain of the lower reaches of the Qiantang River, the sedimentary layer thickness is deep, the soil is fertile, the degree of ripening is high, and the variety is wide, so the white chrysanthemum petals are thick, the stamens are dark yellow, and the sweet and slightly bitter after making tea is delicious, and the taste is fragrant. The harvesting and processing of Hangzhou white chrysanthemum are also very particular, when the petals are flat from yellow to white and the stamens are slightly yellow, choose a sunny day after the dew dries or harvest in batches in the afternoon, the flower moisture at this time is less, easy to dry, and the color quality is the best. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, Hangzhou Baiju is often linked to the functions of dispelling wind and clearing heat, calming the liver and brightening the eyes, detoxifying and reducing swelling, but because the effect of traditional Chinese medicine has not been confirmed by modern medicine, there is no need to care too much.
