Opened in 1999, Café de l'École de l'École is one of the oldest French restaurants in Beijing. The history of the Foro Group can be traced back to 1901 with the Brasserie FLO, and in 1968 the first Foro restaurant was born in Paris. Beijing Fu Lou French Restaurant is the first branch of Fu Lou Group in Asia.
From 2003 to 2014, Fook Lou was awarded the title of "Best French Restaurant" by The Beijinger magazine for 11 consecutive years. Nowadays, there are more and more French restaurants in Beijing, and Fu Lou French Restaurant no longer stands out from the crowd, but its strength is still not to be underestimated.
Compared to the new French style that is common in top French restaurants, the style of the restaurant is more old-fashioned, and many of the classic dishes are traditional French cuisine. "Lujie" foie gras is one of the most popular appetizers in Fulou, with fig jam and butter bread, foie gras rolled and pickled figs, the flavor is classic, the foie gras is sticky and firm, the method is very orthodox, but the tenderness of the foie gras is slightly insufficient. Burgundy baked snails are also one of the signature dishes, placed in a honeycomb-shaped container, coated with a vanilla sauce with a slight garlic aroma, the butter used to bake the snails is French AOC unsalted butter, which is of high quality and aroma.
The oysters at the French restaurant are also worth trying. Fulou is the first restaurant in Beijing to fly oysters from France, and in order to ensure the quality of life, Beijing Fulou Restaurant relies on Air France to fly fresh oysters from Brittany every Tuesday and Friday. The quality of the Oysters from the Poitou-Charente appellation is that the quality of the Oysters is excellent, and the quality of the Oysters is the most plump, crisp and salty. The French Royal II oysters from the Normandy region are also a quality choice.
The current Fu Lou French restaurant is located on Xiaoyun Road, the environment is quiet and tranquil, and the restaurant enters through the green path, with an elegant and graceful temperament. The decoration in the restaurant is flat and stable, the classic western restaurant style, the crystal chandelier, the carved beams and columns are regular and orderly, but the sense of hierarchy of the space is weak, it is clear from the inside to the outside, the table distance between the seats is also relatively small, the atmosphere is more noisy, and the sense of "style" is not high. As a representative of long-established French cuisine, Fu Lou French Restaurant is not the same as that of the past, but it is still a safe choice for traditional French cuisine in Beijing.
