Jiaji is the first MPV of the Geely brand, but it is not a purebred MPV, and Chevrolet Volando, BYD Song Max, Geely Jiaji has both the characteristics of MPV, as well as elements of other car types, such as the layout of 6-7 seats, the second row can have a middle aisle, relatively high ground clearance, the main driver's sitting posture is also more inclined to SUV, the whole car has the feeling of Renault Espace.
Jiaji's powertrain looks very complicated, there are four different sets of assemblies, but in fact, consumers can choose not much, the lowest configuration is manual transmission, only one model can be selected, the highest configuration is plug-in hybrid, the starting price is more than 160,000 yuan, except for a very few limited cities, there is generally no need to choose it. The remaining two gasoline models, one is a 1.5T three-cylinder engine plus a 48V mild hybrid system, considering the market's acceptance of the three-cylinder engine, Geely has also prepared a 1.8T four-cylinder engine with Aisin 6AT.
According to Geely's official statement, they expect the best-selling model to be a 1.5T with 7DCT version, which combines two more tangled technologies on the market, one is a three-cylinder engine, and the other is a dual-clutch transmission. The model of this three-cylinder engine used by Jiaji is JLH-3G15TD, with a maximum horsepower of 177 hp and 5500 rpm. The transmission is a Getrag 7DCT300, a seven-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox, the same as the latest Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
In daily driving, the engine shake is not obvious, the only thing that is easier to show is that when the uphill semi-linkage, a slight shake will be noticed, but this is only limited to the new car stage, this engine has not been on the market for a long time, and the reliability has yet to be tested.
When this engine is driving in the city, the power is relatively light and fast, but after all, Jiaji's car weighs 1.66 tons, and if it is fully loaded with 6-7 people and still runs at high speed, then it is still a little powerless, because although the maximum horsepower of this engine is 177 horsepower, in fact, few people will pull the speed to 5500 rpm.
The gearbox doesn't have any problems in terms of smoothness, it performs very well on both the Renault Espace and the new Mercedes A-Class, and there are no noticeable setbacks on the Geely Jiaji, and it doesn't shift as early as Volkswagen's partial wet dual-clutch transmission
Deliberately low the speed, overall it is worth giving a good review.
There are two obvious problems with this powertrain, one is the operation of the 48V system, and the other is the automatic start-stop operation. When the automatic start-stop function is turned on, the 48V system will cut off the work of the compressor, and there will be no cold air, and if the red light is long, it will be more uncomfortable in summer. The automatic start-stop will be more obvious at the moment of starting, and the start-stop action will be very abrupt compared to the daily jitter of the three-cylinder engine.
There are many times when there is only one car in a family, but it needs to have a certain capacity to travel on holidays and also meet the needs of commuting, so this requires a certain amount of sportiness in terms of chassis and steering feel. Unlike the Trumpchi GM6, Geely Jiaji's steering and suspension tuning are not like a purebred MPV, but are a bit similar to the Chevrolet Volando, except for the higher sitting position, the steering and chassis response is not slow, and it will be much more comfortable to drive than GM6.
Jiaji's interior belongs to the type of overforce in the same class, and the workmanship and materials of the interior completely exceed the level that this class should have, and even surpass some mid-level cars of joint venture brands. A large area of soft materials is used on the center console, and the gear lever is designed with an electronic gear handle, which has a large storage space underneath, but the storage space at hand is slightly less.
In terms of seating layout, Geely Jiaji gives several options, namely 2 2 2, 2 2 3 and 2 3 2, if you choose two independent seats in the second row, the comfort will be more comfortable than sitting three people in the second row, but if you choose the three-seat version in the second row, then when you take 5 people at the same time, 3 people will be more comfortable sitting in the second row together. Because the third row, whether it is two or three seats, the ride comfort can never be compared with a thoroughbred MPV such as the Trumpchi GM6.
The number of seats in the last row also affects the size of the trunk space, and the two-seater can form a fully flat platform after being folded down, and the space utilization rate will be much higher, while the three-seater will have an extra beam under the bottom because of the height of the seat cushion, and after the seat is put down, it will protrude upwards and occupy a part of the space.
Geely Jiaji's trunk space is very average by the standard of MPV, and in the case of full seats, it is barely enough to stuff a boarding suitcase, which is indeed a relatively large gap with GM6, but it is basically at the same level as Buick GL6 or Volando.
Geely Jiaji has not been on the market for a long time, and there is no large sample data in terms of reliability, but there are no large-scale fault complaints. In terms of safety, they did not participate in the C-NCAP crash test, and the test was supplemented with results.
