The current Ruifeng M5 on sale is the second-generation model, JAC plans to use it to break into the high-end MPV market, the previous generation model is actually more like a large van, the main purpose is to load goods, not to load people, the sense of grade is slightly worse.
 
After the replacement, Ruifeng M5 does not have a new feeling, the appearance has not changed much, and the chassis is still the chassis architecture of Hyundai H1, with a girder frame and a five-link hard shaft with coil springs for the rear suspension, and the front suspension is a torsion bar spring independent suspension. The frame itself doesn't say anything, but on MPV models, the frame needs a lot of optimization to make up for the lack of structure. The Refine M5 shows a good shock absorption texture on the paved road, and the chassis is also very solid on pothole roads, but the suspension action is slow, and it always feels very unclean when passing through continuous speed bumps.
 
The powertrain is a 1.9-liter diesel engine and a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, with the diesel engine mated to a manual transmission, and the gasoline engine has been changed from a 5-speed automatic transmission to a 6-speed wet dual-clutch transmission developed in-house by JAC. The 2.0T engine can output a maximum of 190 horsepower, but the curb weight reaches 2.2 tons, and if the car is full of 7 people, the power can only be said to be barely enough. The biggest problem with this engine is noise, the turbine parts are noisy at 2000 rpm and 4000 rpm, and the engine itself is relatively noisy, which greatly affects the ride experience of the front occupants.
 
The dual-clutch transmission of the Refine M5 is self-developed, and the shift smoothness is good, but the smoother tuning seriously impairs the speed and responsiveness of the shifts. When the clutch is released and the clutch is not quickly combined, it needs to be given a little throttle to combine, the response is half a beat slower, and in the process of driving at a constant speed and then speeding up, the downshift speed is slow, and the power output lags behind by one to two seconds. The gearbox is also on the low side of tolerance, and it will change gears quickly at around 4,000 rpm in daily driving to avoid high-revving shifts.
 
After changing from the AT gearbox to the dual-clutch, although the drivability has decreased to a certain extent, the fuel consumption has improved, the previous 5AT model, using the same engine, the fuel consumption of 100 kilometers is about 13 liters, and the fuel consumption of the dual-clutch model is about 10-11 liters per 100 kilometers.
 
The Refine M5 has a very ample cabin space, even if the second row of seats is adjusted to the rear, the third row has plenty of knee room, and the second row can also do 360-degree rotation, which is very maneuverable. The shortcomings of ride comfort are still brought by the girder frame, the platform is high, and the posture of getting on and off the car is not elegant, and even a little strenuous; The floor is high, but the seat height is not increased accordingly, and the legs of the second-row occupants may not be effectively supported, which is unreasonable.
 
Ruifeng M5 sales in recent years are not high, so the number of complaints is not large, the powertrain fault is more in the engine, but the noise itself is relatively large, will cover up part of the abnormal noise, it is not easy to find the fault point, and this dual-clutch transmission is wet, and the reliability is generally slightly better than the dry dual-clutch.
