The English name of Tuda is Terra, which means gravel in Italian. It is a mid-size SUV designed by Nissan Motor of Japan and produced and sold by Zhengzhou Nissan, specifically for the Chinese market. It is based on the Nissan F-Alpha platform of the Paladin and Navarra pickups, and the design style follows the Nissan Patrol, and the name is similar to the Patrol, which seems to be related to the Patrol, but in fact it is the successor to the Paladin.
Tuda will only be equipped with a QR25DE naturally aspirated engine with a maximum horsepower of 184Ps, but it can only be produced at 6000 rpm, which is of little significance in daily driving, with a maximum torque of 251 Nm, which can be generated at 4000 rpm, and the 000 acceleration of the four-wheel drive version is 11.7 seconds, which is not fast, but it is completely enough for the main off-road Patrol. Tuda is based on the F-Alpha platform to build, is a non-load-bearing body, with girders, this is the basic configuration that the off-road vehicle should have, the high-end four-wheel drive system is a rigid connection of time-sharing four-wheel drive, the suspension travel is also particularly long, equipped with a rear differential lock, in the low-speed four-wheel drive mode, is the rear differential lock and electronic brake assist limited slip work together.
The off-road ability of the Patrol is much stronger than that of the average family SUV, but it also has the shortcomings that other hard-core off-road vehicles do not have, the most obvious is that under the low-speed four-wheel drive mode, more than 1000 rpm, 1, 2, 3 gears can not be switched, and manual mode is not good, which is a very serious defect in some use environments, for example, when rushing to the slope, rushing halfway, the power is insufficient, and when you need to downshift and pull the speed to get torque, you find that you can't downshift, which may cause a serious accident.
Tuda transmission also has a more serious reliability problem, as the mileage increases, the problem of drag and jitter will become more and more serious, even if the air conditioning is not turned on to reduce the engine load will not be significantly improved, the manufacturer has no solution.
As an off-road vehicle that takes into account both off-road and household functions, Tuda is more balanced in terms of drivability, although it has girders, but it does not have the sense of separation of the girder body before, it is much better than the Navarra on the same platform, and the center of gravity will not appear particularly high when cornering, so there is no need to worry about passengers being dangled. The 2.5L self-aspirated engine will not appear to be underpowered in urban road conditions, because Nissan has adjusted its front throttle to be more brisk, and it has more power in the 0-80km/h period, but at 80-120km/h it will be a little powerless, and it will be a little sluggish at high speeds.
Tuda's steering wheel is not electronically assisted, but the traditional hydraulic power, left and right full 3.8 laps, if the old-school off-road vehicle is an example, this performance is very normal, but if you want to use it at home, this is a negative effect, it will be heavy at low speeds, moving the car and driving at low speed are not too friendly, only the speed will go up after the feel will return to normal.
If it is an urban road condition, the braking force of the drum brake will not be worse than that of the disc brake, and the proportion of braking power provided by the rear brake is very small, even in the off-road process, the drum brake of the rear wheel is not a minus. The biggest problem with the rear wheel drum brake is that after it wades, the muddy water will adhere to the brake pads and affect the braking force, and wading is a working condition with a high frequency in off-road, so it is normal for the rear wheel drum brake to be criticized.
The interior of the Tuda can also clearly see the meaning of compromise, in the hard off-road and family SUV to do the balance, the interior of the Tuda is not as good as many family SUVs of the same level, a lot of hard plastics, the design style is also very conservative, even inferior to its own X-Trail, but it is better than many Pajero and Navarre.
The quietness of the Tuda is quite good in daily driving, the isolation of tire noise and road noise is very good, the biggest source of noise is the engine, when it is pulled to 3000-4000 rpm, the engine noise will be transmitted to the cockpit, although this engine is not unpleasant in the four-cylinder machine, but if the speed fluctuates greatly, such as the uphill and downhill of the mountain road, this makes people a little irritable.
Tuta has plenty of headroom in the back, but because it has both girders and wants to flatten the floor, the floor in the back is too high, and the posture in the back row is a little curled up, and the thighs lack sufficient support. The softness of the seat is still in line with Nissan's usual style, but the sides of the seat cushion are also soft, and the support is not enough, which will not only affect durability, but also cause the whole person to slide down when getting out of the car.
There are cup holders on both sides of the trunk of the Tuda, indicating that it has thought about launching a seven-seater model, but for a model with a girder, even the comfort of the second row is not very good, the seven-seat model is undoubtedly a more chicken existence, and it is better to retain the huge space of the current trunk, which can be used as an attractive selling point.
