Volkswagen Tuyue Compact SUV Joint Venture Product Evaluation

Since Volkswagen began to roll out the SUV product line, the disadvantages of too many models have gradually been revealed, SUVs of similar size, there is one in SAIC Volkswagen, there will be another in FAW-Volkswagen, sometimes the same MQB platform, but it will be divided into A1 and A2 platforms, which are not sister models, which will make people feel dazzled.
 
To determine whether a Volkswagen SUV belongs to FAW or SAIC, the main thing is to look at the naming, FAW is the explorer, SAIC is the road character. The Tuyue is positioned as a compact SUV to replace the Tiguan Silk Road version, but the length of 4453mm is short in the same class, and the mainstream models in the same class can basically reach about 4600mm. In terms of appearance, it is SAIC Volkswagen's latest family design, which is equivalent to a smaller version of the Tourang.
 
The powertrain is still familiar, with the lower-spec model equipped with a 1.4T high-power engine codenamed EA211 with a maximum output of 150 horsepower mated to a DQ200 seven-speed dry dual-clutch transmission, and the high-spec model with a 2.0T EA888 with a maximum output of 186 hp mated to a DQ381 seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. After its launch, the 1.4T model will naturally play the role of the main sales force, but the 2.0T model will be equipped with full-time four-wheel drive, which is also worth considering in areas with more rain and snow or less favorable road conditions.
 
The 1.4T model is consistent with the recent Volkswagen models in terms of power tuning, which is to reduce the gear shift speed in exchange for smoothness, and occasionally there is a pulling sensation when driving at low speeds. This powertrain is already very mature, and there will be no obvious setbacks in daily use, but the reliability of the dry dual-clutch is still a short board, and there is no need to consider this if you are entangled in this.
 
FAW-Volkswagen's Tanyue uses MQB-A2 platform, SAIC Volkswagen's Tuyue uses MQB-A1 platform, front MacPherson rear multi-link, the overall tuning is hard, the fine vibration filtering effect is not too good, the stiff suspension tuning will directly transmit road information to the cabin, suspension action and tire noise are more obvious, but in the process of high-speed driving and turning, the support of the suspension is also relatively strong, and the trade-off is obvious.
 
Volkswagen's interior is not much worth saying, the layout near the gear knob and the center console is too similar, the most obvious difference between the high and low configuration is the size of the central control screen, even the high-end model will have a large area of hard materials, and the sense of grade is not strong.
 
The wheelbase of the Tuyue is 2680mm, which is more obvious in terms of rear seat space, and the legroom is very abundant. The disadvantages of the seat are more obvious, although the length of the seat cushion is sufficient, but the padding is hard, the shape of the backrest and seat cushion are very flat, the backrest angle is also relatively steep, and the angle adjustment is not supported, and the ride comfort is average.
 
In terms of safety, the Volkswagen MQB-A1 platform has good crash test results in the past, and if nothing else, the safety of the Tuyue is also worth looking forward to.
