After two postponements and a direct loss of hundreds of millions of yuan, Great Wall Motors finally created an SUV - Haval H8.
The Haval H8, which was launched in the early stage, is equipped with a turbocharged engine with a displacement of 2.0 liters, which was developed by Great Wall Motor and has met the China V emission standard. The 2.0-liter engine has a maximum power of 160 kW and a peak torque of 324 Nm. Judging from the data, the strength of this powertrain is not bad, but it is not easy to drag the 2.2-ton body, and the acceleration of 100 kilometers in about 12 seconds can only make the driver look at the back of others and gradually move away. At high revs, the engine sounds dull and causes the metal parts in the car to shake. The transmission from ZEUF is generally in good condition, but occasionally goes out of gear in manual mode. The suspension of the Haval H8 is a combination of double wishbones at the front and multi-link at the rear, especially since it also comes with the automatic adjustment system of NIVOMAT vehicle height. This system is essentially the same as the air suspension with a height sensor, and is less of a problem for disrepaired roads.
Like most domestic cars, the H8 is reserved for the rear passengers. The space and comfort offered by the rear seats of the Haval H8 is a highlight, but the fly in the ointment is that the Haval H8 only has a five-seater version. The spacious ride comes at the expense of trunk space, which can't even fit a full-size spare wheel. Unlike other domestic cars, the USB port in the armrest box of Haval H8 can only charge it and cannot play songs in the mobile phone after it is connected to the mobile phone. At present, the multimedia system of Haval H8 is only compatible with Android system, and the matching with Apple's system is still being debugged. In addition, the control of front seat heating is also a bit cumbersome, you need to press the button under the center console to open the seat heating interface, and then touch the LCD screen to select the high and low gears to complete the operation.
As the first product after the independence of the Haval brand, the Haval H8 was ill-fated. On April 20 and November 21, 2013, the Haval H8 was first unveiled at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show, and continued to announce its launch at the Guangzhou Auto Show. However, on January 13, 2014, Great Wall announced that the launch of the Haval H8 would be postponed for 3 months due to a series of quality problems or imperfect details: the engine tuning was conservative, the sports mode was not obvious, and it was not much different from the economic model; When the vehicle is started, the seat belt is not fastened, and the alarm is premature; The steering wheel is on the light side; Long braking operating stroke; The gear sense of the door limiter is not clear; Some functions are cumbersome to operate; Engine noise, road noise, and wind noise control need to be improved; The texture of the center console is single, etc. In response to the two postponements, the industry did not give Haval too many positive comments on its "excellence" way of working, but instead caused rumors to spread for a while.
In terms of safety, the Haval H8 participated in the third batch of C-NCAP tests in 2015 and received a 5-star safety evaluation. The overall score was 54.4 points.
