Lexus GX luxury brand mid-to-large SUV product review

Today, when most large SUVs are competing to cross over to urban functions, the Lexus GX still sticks to the off-road camp. It shares the platform of the Toyota Prado, although it also shares many luxury elements of the LX, but the non-load-bearing body, movable rear axle, full-time four-wheel drive, this series of hormones is enough to help the Lexus GX establish the image of a "muscular man".

The Lexus GX's all-terrain control system is similar to Land Rover's design ideas, which is one of the few advantages of Land Rover. Tested by Consumer Reports, the system intervenes in the vehicle's suspension height and power delivery in a timely and precise manner, keeping the car as firm as an off-road vehicle. In Consumer Reports testing, the GX460 had a fuel consumption of 17 mpg (13.85 l/100km), which, combined with a higher fuel rating, made the Lexus GX a less "affordable" SUV. The reason is actually very simple, sacrificing fuel economy in exchange for a stronger push back feeling.

While ensuring off-road performance, the Lexus GX takes into account the urban needs of consumers. The GX460 features a very typical double-wishbone front overhang, and a combination of KDSS and AVS adaptive adjustable suspension is a combination that absorbs every bump, especially at low speeds. The driving environment is quiet enough that people don't feel the "thick lines" of the off-road vehicle at all. The Lexus GX's automatic hill climb control system was a small surprise, as in Consumer Reports' tests, the driver only had to select the speed and focus on the steering wheel to complete the hill start. The outstanding off-road ability will inevitably make the body less agile, and even in comfort mode, the quick steering is a bit "weightless".

Like many off-road vehicles, the Lexus GX also puts more attention on the driver's position, and drivers of almost all sizes can find a sitting position that suits them, and visibility in all directions is also very good. In order to make the body more lightweight, the second-row seat space is moderate, but the third row can only be used for emergencies.

The quality of the Lexus GX continues Toyota's long tradition. The quality and reliability of the old GX in '08 is enough to put many brands to shame in new cars. Consumer Reports predicts that the current GX will continue to be among the most reliable in the industry.

Since many of the technologies on the GX have been applied to the Toyota Prado and Lexus LX, and these models have excellent safety performance, consumers have every reason to fully trust the safety performance of the Lexus GX.
