Lincoln MKC luxury brand midsize SUV product review

The MKC is Lincoln's cheapest SUV and one of Lincoln's best-selling models, the other being the MKZ. The MKC did not have an orthodox predecessor, its chassis, engine, and transmission were the same as those of the Ford Tiger, and Lincoln's job was to build a luxury model based on it. Many of Lincoln's models are the same as Ford's models, which is already very conventional, and Lincoln is indeed significantly different from Ford's models in terms of materials and tuning, and this part of the price difference does have its value.

In terms of appearance, the early model of the MKC adopts a flying wing front face, which is quite American and recognizable, but in other regions, the shape may be too advanced, and the sales performance is average. After the mid-term facelift, it adopts the same family-style star emblem grille as the Navigator, MKX, MKZ and other models, which is more stable in appearance than the previous model, and uses the same design style as the high-end models, which also adds points to the MKC's styling.

The powertrain has not changed much after the facelift, and it is still the EcoBoost four-cylinder turbocharged engine, which is divided into high and low power tuning, with 203 horsepower in the low-power version and 253 horsepower in the high-power version, mated to a 6F50 6-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain has been used many times on Lincoln models, and in addition to high fuel consumption (12 liters per 100 kilometers on average), the ride and shift speed are not bad. The problem is that Ford already has a 10-speed gearbox like the 10R80 on the multi-gear gearbox, which is also used on the Voyager, and the Lincoln model that still uses the GF6 gearbox lacks the ability to keep up with the times.

Chassis tuning and steering wheel feel are the obvious differences between the MKC and the Tiger. The MKC is positioned younger than the MKX, and will focus on the sense of handling, while after the mid-term facelift, the steering wheel damping is increased, but the agile steering is maintained, the body roll will come earlier, and the suspension cushioning is thicker, and there is a wonderful feeling of both a certain sense of control and a slight "big car feeling".

Lincoln will often use chrome and wood grain on high-end SUVs, as well as a lot of leather, to create a very American sense of luxury, while MKC is only Lincoln's entry-level SUV, so there will be a reduction in design elements, only leather and wood grain trim, almost no chrome parts. The style of the interior mainly depends on the color scheme, and the dark interior of Lincoln will look very dull, which is a bit different from the needs of the target consumer users, so it is recommended to choose a light-colored interior.

MKC's previous multimedia system, MyLincoln, is now Ford's Sync3, which has improved the user experience and provides mobile phone connectivity, which is already very high in daily use.

The lateral riding space in the rear row is relatively sufficient, and the space comfort is guaranteed, but the main problem comes from the seat, the seat height is short, the seat cushion length is short, the backrest is relatively straight, and the ride comfort is average. The front seats are more provocative, and the slender driver will feel that the wrapping is very good, and if the back is relatively wide, it will feel that the sides of the backrest are pushed to the back, and the versatility is average.

In terms of reliability, MKC is in the middle of the U.S. Consumer Reports, with major failures occurring in the vehicle's electronic systems. Lincoln's sales in China are not high, and MKC does not have a high frequency of common complaints, but the GF6 gearbox has a mediocre reputation, and there is no advantage in expected reliability.

In terms of safety, the Lincoln MKC introduced the IIHS crash test in 2015 and only participated in the frontal moderate crash test and side impact test, which did not meet the highest safety rating and had no award record.
