The RDX has a five-year replacement cycle, with the previous RDX being imported in China in 2013 and the third-generation RDX being produced by Guangqi Honda. After reducing import tariffs on auto parts, Acura can further control costs for domestically produced Acura, coupled with Honda's pricing strategy, the RDX has a very large price advantage in its class, and the guide price of the top-of-the-line model is only comparable to that of competing models such as BBA.
 
The third-generation RDX is Acura's third domestically produced model after the CDX and TLX-L, designed and developed by Acura's U.S. team, and the overall design style will be more radical than the previous generation, and the consumer group will be younger. Compared to the BBA sibling model, which was only slightly modified in the replacement, the RDX is more forceful in design this time.
 
Among the CDX, TLX-L and RDX, the CDX and RDX are more in line with the characteristics of Acura's new generation models, while the TLX-L still has traces of the previous generation. In terms of powertrain, the RDX, like the CDX, has also entered the turbo era, using a 2.0T turbocharged engine codenamed K20C5, with a maximum horsepower of 265 hp and a maximum torque of 380 Nm, with a 000 time of 7 seconds. The interior part is also a plus point for RDX, in several models produced in Acura, the interior of CDX and RDX follow the design style of NSX, using button shifting, the design of the entire front row is very technological, but also takes into account strong practicality, the lower part of the shift button and the central armrest box have relatively large storage space. A lot of soft materials are used in the front row, a lot of leather, and the stitching is also quite exquisite, and the interior materials can be compared to the Lexus NX in the same class.
 
This part of the multimedia system is mixed, because the RDX uses a trackpad similar to Lexus, and the Lexus system is too easy to distract the driver, and the RDX adds a positioning device at the four corners on this basis, which is high and low in the middle, and the position on the screen corresponds to one by one, which is not too complicated. Relatively conservative U.S. consumers report that the system is very difficult to use, while other cutting-edge automotive media find it easy to get used to with a little time. The wheelbase of this generation of RDX is longer than that of the previous generation, but the legroom in the rear row is not as spacious as that of models with an extended wheelbase in the same class, which can only be said to have enough margin, and the head space is relatively abundant, plus a large area of sunroof, the rear row has no oppressive feeling at all.
