After various brands continue to launch electric vehicles, it is easy to associate the letter E with Electric, but Jaguar's E-Pace is just a gasoline version of the compact SUV, and the I-Pace is their electric SUV. Luxury brands want to enter this segment, and Jaguar is no exception, not to mention that it also has a ready-made Range Rover Evoque chassis, and it is relatively simple to build an SUV on this basis.
 
In terms of appearance, the E-Pace combines some of the characteristics of F-Pace and F-Type, the rounded head is like a miniature version of F-Pace, but the direction of the headlights is extended backwards like the F-Type, and not horizontally like the F-Pace, the taillight part is made very narrow and long like other Jaguar models, and the tail is also made a Fastback fastback shape, which is generally young and sporty. Jaguar officials also said that the E-Pace will be the first Jaguar for young people.
 
The E-Pace is produced and sold by Chery Jaguar Land Rover in China, with a total power composition of 2.0T and two versions of high and low power, equipped with an Ingenium turbocharged engine codenamed PT204, with a maximum horsepower of 200Ps and 249Ps respectively, while the foreign high and low power versions are divided into 246hp and 296hp. The transmission is mated to ZF's 9-HP 9-speed automatic transmission.
 
In daily driving, the performance of this 9AT gearbox is quite average, especially in urban road conditions, there will be a significant delay in starting, and the switch of low gear has a relatively strong sense of pulling, and this working condition is often encountered in daily life, so there will always be a little frustration when driving at low speed. After the speed is raised, this set of gearboxes can work normally, and the speed and smoothness of shifting have been improved, but compared with Mercedes-Benz and GM's 9AT, the responsiveness and smoothness still have obvious shortcomings.
 
F-Pace's weight is definitely in the forefront of the same class, the curb weight has reached 1.9 tons, it is very difficult to have fun handling under this quality, especially the adaptive suspension is still optional, so it can only stiffen the suspension in order to cope with the very obvious roll in the corner, the whole system is equipped with a four-wheel drive system as standard, and the left and right wheels can achieve 0-100 power transmission, so that there will be no obvious understeer when cornering.
 
The E-Pace's road noise and wind noise suppression are good, and there is occasional wind noise in the A-pillar at high speeds, and the more obvious noise sources in the cabin come from the suspension action and engine noise. The sound of Jaguar's supercharged engine is still very unique, but after changing to this turbocharged engine, the roar of that engine becomes noise, and it is quite uncomfortable to hear it every time you pull the rpm.
 
Compared with the opponents of the same level, the interior of the E-Pace is relatively shabby, although there are LCD instruments can be optional, but the look and feel of the LCD instrument is not as good as Audi's, the central multimedia system is a touch screen, and there is no Remote Control of other models, you can only point with your fingers, which is very easy to distract people in driving. A lot of leather wrapping is used throughout the car, but Jaguar's classic workmanship appears again, and the stitching is very uneven in many places, which reduces its sense of grade.
 
The rear space is in the lower middle of the class, and the legroom is not abundant, and if the driver is relatively high, the rear row is very cramped. Due to the shape of the fastback, there is not much headroom, and the angle of the backrest is relatively straight, and the rear passenger sits in a more upright position, which is difficult to cope with long trips. The rear center platform will have a high protrusion, and the rear air vents will also take up a certain amount of space, and the width of the seats is not enough to seat three adults.
 
The trunk space is 484 liters under normal circumstances, and the rear seats support four or six proportional reclining, but it does not form a fully flat platform after being folded, with a volume of 1141 liters, according to the body size, this trunk volume is also relatively normal.
 
Jaguar has always been easy to be criticized for its reliability, although it is a new model, there is no reliability survey data on the American consumer report, but the expected reliability score is 1 out of 5, and the expectation is quite pessimistic. The E-Pace is produced by Chery in China, and its reliability is not ideal.
 
The E-Pace did not participate in the IIHS crash test, but participated in the E-NCAP and A-NCAP crash tests, and received a 5-star score, including 86 points for occupant protection, the safety factor is relatively high, and the E-Pace is equipped with a lane departure system and active safety system as standard.
