Ford Wing Small SUV product review

Ford Yibo is also one of the pioneers of this wave of small SUVs in the domestic market, and from the beginning of its launch in 2013, it has tested the price floor of small SUV joint ventures at low prices. Although the model and power are obviously outdated, the price is still the biggest competitiveness of Yibo.

Why did Ford, which is one step ahead of the small SUV layout, choose to produce such a cheap car? And why is it that today, when the market trend has changed and the core range of small SUVs has moved up to about 150,000, the upgraded version of Yibo is still not launched? In fact, the emergence of Yibo in China is a coincidence, as early as 2003, Ford launched a small urban SUV EcoSport for the South American market, and Yibo is in fact the second-generation EcoSport, it is no wonder that Ford reacted quickly to China's SUV trend and was able to come up with its own ready-made products ahead of other car manufacturers.

The 1.5L is equipped with a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the 1.0T is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Like the previous European cars, Yibo is also a small sedan disguised as an SUV, it does not have a four-wheel drive function, and the only advantage over the sedan is that it can be better qualified for the "road teeth" sport that Chinese drivers love. Its daily driving experience is not lost, the steering feel is quite tough, the response of the front is also very flexible, the suspension of the wing is more rigid, the support when cornering is in place, and it is a bit like a carnival in all aspects, but the raised chassis makes it not have the grounding of a carnival. In short, it's a decent city car.

However, as a city car, Yibo catastrophically adopts a set of 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, which concentrates most of the shortcomings of dual-clutch transmission, but does not have the advantages that dual-clutch should have. Its shifting speed is not much different from that of a regular automatic transmission, and its smoothness is not as smooth as that of the mainstream 6-speed automatic manual transmission. And this set of 6-speed dual-clutch is not satisfactory in terms of speed control, and the wing beats rev a little higher than most 6-speed automatic transmissions in all speed ranges, resulting in a small displacement, but not low fuel consumption.

Ford has never been good at using space, the body size of the Yibo is larger than that of the Honda Binzhi, but the space performance of the Binzhi is the benchmark of the same level, while the interior space of the Yibo is quite compact, and the trunk space is also quite small, which is similar to the overall level of Chevrolet Chuangku.

In terms of reliability, Carnival has fallen from the original recommended model to the least recommended model in the evaluation system of American consumer reports, and the main problem is the ultra-high failure rate after long-term use, and the failure rate of core components such as the engine and gearbox is very high. The same platform as it and shares the full powertrain, the Imbow may not be immune to this problem.

WingBo only received a four-star rating in the Euro-NCAP crash test, but its deductions focused on pedestrian protection, and in terms of passenger and child protection, WingBo actually performed very well, so in terms of safety, car owners don't have to worry about this four-star rating. In 2014, Yibo participated in the C-NCAP China crash test and received a five-star rating of 56.4 points.
