The Hyundai ix25 is a model launched by South Korea's Hyundai Motor in response to the trend of small SUVs in China, which was first launched at the Chengdu Motor Show in 2014.
The ix25 has three displacements, the naturally aspirated 1.6L, 2.0L and 1.6T turbocharged, and according to the practice in the Chinese market, the 1.6L displacement is still the best-selling one, while the 2.0L exists almost exclusively to pull up the positioning. But the 1.6-liter engine is extremely underpowered, and driving such a car on the highway can easily be exhausting. And when the speed reaches more than 70 kilometers per hour, its steering wheel feel will suddenly increase, and when you encounter a curve in high-speed driving, you will feel that you are wrestling with the steering wheel, generally speaking, the steering force is variable is actually conducive to driving safety, but this change in ix25 is a little abrupt, which further makes this car "not easy to drive".
The ix25's chassis performs pretty well, both in terms of the efficiency and thickness of the shock filtering, and the grip on bumps and corners, which is enough to reverse your prejudice against the chassis of a modern car. Moreover, its sound insulation level is not exposed, and in terms of driving texture, it still represents the evolution level of Korean cars.
The ix25 is also spacious enough inside, but the ride comfort is not outstanding, because the seats are too thin and too stiff in the front and rear, and the feeling of riding in a cheap car is obvious.
The ix25 is so reliable that it's hard to find any common faults, but Hyundai has maintained a very low failure rate for several years. In JD Power's 2015 statistics on the quality of new cars in China, Beijing Hyundai ranked first with only 70 annual breakdowns, far better than the industry average of 108 – it's time to let go of the quality stereotypes of Korean cars.
In terms of safety, the Hyundai ix25 received a five-star safety rating of 55.1 in the C-NCAP crash test, but in the full frontal crash test, the ix25 scored only 0.05 out of 0.2 in the rear passenger neck protection category, while in the 40% frontal offset crash test, the ix25 scored 0 out of 1 in the rear passenger head and neck category. And its twin model, the Kia KX3, also showed very similar results in the same test, which largely ruled out the chance of test results. The above two tests show that in the event of a frontal collision, the vehicle can hardly protect the neck of the rear passengers, and the neck injury can be fatal to the human body, and the occupant safety may be an obvious shortcoming of this car.
South Korea's Hyundai cars generally have higher configurations, but their economic performance is not high, because they generally like to go on the market at a high price, and then quickly appear with a large discount margin, which causes car owners to complain when selling used cars. At the beginning of the launch, ix25 set a high price of about 12-180,000 yuan, this pricing level directly challenged Binzhi, Ancora and other opponents who are much more popular than it, and there is also a lot of overlap with the price of ix35 after the discount of its own positioning at a higher level, so its discount came very early, but the ix25 after the discount is still a good choice.
