At the beginning of 2018, SAIC Volkswagen announced that it would discontinue production of the Yeti, and the model that replaced the Yeti was the Karoq. This Chinese name and English name are not easy to remember the model, in fact, there is a little crossover in positioning, the body size is larger than the average small SUV, but compared with the mainstream compact SUV, it is not so large, belongs to the small compact - an SUV model.
Although the name is more tongue-twisting and difficult to remember, but the appearance design of the Ke Luoke still took a lot of effort, which is reflected in the folded lines on the body, first of all, it uses more folded lines, and then with a lot of plane and curved surface connections in the middle, the feeling is quite harmonious, this appearance will not be very public, but look carefully and there are more details, plus a relatively high window line, at least this appearance is acceptable to most people.
In terms of power, there are two powertrains in China: 1.2T and 1.4T, 1.2T is the lowest configuration, there is only one model, the power shortcoming is more obvious, and the configuration is quite low, although the price is advantageous, but it is more like a tool car than a family car, and Skoda's main model is a 1.4T model. The 1.4T engine is also EA211, regardless of high and low power, it is 150 horsepower, 250 Nm, and the gearbox is also very familiar DQ200 dry dual-clutch. This gearbox doesn't have to think too much about the smoothness, because the logic and speed of the gear changes are very good, and there are few setbacks, and the more tangled problem may be its reliability.
The overseas version of the Koroke will have a diesel four-wheel drive version, while the gasoline version uses a 1.0T three-cylinder turbo engine and a new EA211 1.5T turbo engine, and the transmission is a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission in addition to the six-speed manual, which is not much different from the domestic one.
The driving experience and ride experience of Koroke are not excellent, the shortcomings mainly come from the adjustment of the suspension, the torsion beam adjustment of the rear axle is not particularly perfect, the fine vibration is quite sensitive, the road sense is too clear, the road information will be transmitted to the frame through the suspension, the steering wheel and the cockpit can feel the vibration, when passing through some potholes and speed bumps, the suspension action is more stiff, each time it comes more directly, there is a lack of cushioning in the middle, and the NVH is not well handled.
In terms of drivability, it also has a coasting mode, when you don't step on the accelerator, its clutch will be disconnected and enter a coasting state, this coasting mode is indeed helpful for fuel consumption performance, but it will cause a kind of power incoherence phenomenon, you release the throttle and then step on the accelerator, it has to pull up the rpm from the new, and then output power, this process will make the power response become extremely slow.
In terms of interior, Skoda and Volkswagen take the same style, 1.4T models will be equipped with a 9-inch touch screen, and the layout of other buttons is very easy to use, but the interior of the whole vehicle is still biased towards a tool car, and it is difficult to find the warm feeling of a family car.
The rear space of the Crook is very sufficient, and there is a lot of room for the head and legs, but this does not show how comfortable it is, its rear seat cushion is relatively flat, and the backrest angle is relatively straight, and it cannot be adjusted, which is still not as good as the overseas version for such a large space as the rear row and trunk. The overseas version of the rear seats can be turned forward like a micro-surface, or it can be disassembled, which has a lot of changes, while the domestic version can only fold the rear seats, and there is a very large gap between the rear seats and the trunk after being folded. All in all, there is no problem with the space of the Crook, but many small details are not as perfect as the overseas version.
In 2017, the company participated in the E-NCAP crash test, and the standard version also received a five-star rating, with a score of 93 for occupant protection, and all models are equipped with TSP, but the two models with low domestic configuration lack rear air curtains.
