Volkswagen Tange small SUV product review

You may not believe it, Tange is the fourth SUV of the Volkswagen brand, and the previous three were the Touareg, Tiguan and Tourang. Compared with other brands, Volkswagen's SUV plan came relatively late, but with Volkswagen's appeal in China, the best-selling of Tange is predictable.
 
The domestic Tange still uses the MQB platform, and the wheelbase is 70mm longer than the European version of the T-Roc. In Europe, the T-Roc is actually a small SUV, and in China, Volkswagen lengthened it, and then the positioning rose from a small SUV to a compact SUV, a bit like the Tiguan plus an L is the same level as the Highlander, but in fact Tange is just an extended version of a small SUV.
 
The domestic Tange only has 1.2T and 1.4T engines, of which the 1.2T is just a model that lowers the entry price, with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the 1.4T engine is divided into two versions, low power of 131 horsepower, 225 Nm, high power of 150 horsepower, 250 Nm, unified with 7-speed wet dual-clutch. The 000 acceleration of the low-power version is about 10 seconds, and the high-power version is 9 seconds. The top-of-the-line model will have a four-wheel drive system, but the price is too high to be the mainstream model.
 
Although they are all 1.4T engines, they use a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, coupled with different tuning, which makes the Tange feel completely different from other 1.4T models with dry dual-clutch transmission. Tange will still be like the previous Volkswagen dual-clutch model, light pedaling does not go, heavy pedaling will run, the first half of the throttle response is basically none, neither will increase the throttle opening, nor downshift, and after the throttle is more than one-half, the power will come very suddenly, and there is no linearity at all.
 
Tange also has a sports mode, after turning on, the speed will often be kept at about 2000 rpm, but this does not help the linearity of the throttle, its idea is to advance the response of the throttle, increase the shift speed, just let the power come earlier, a bit like the meaning of "happy throttle".
 
Compared with the previous suspension tuning of Volkswagen for the domestic market, the suspension tuning of Tange is generally biased towards the tuning of European cars. Because the positioning of Tange is younger, it does not need to be too soft, the stiff suspension can maintain better support in daily driving, and its feedback road sense is also clearer, when passing some small potholes, I feel that the suspension cushion is still better, but when passing through some large potholes, the suspension stroke and shock filtration are obviously insufficient.
 
Although the interior of Tange is still very popular taste, there are horizontal and vertical lines everywhere, but it can be seen that the main young positioning, many places are used with the same color trim plate as the body, the LCD screen will not be configured until the luxury type, and a large number of hard plastic covers the compartment, and the seats will only have an ESC if they are above the top configuration, but the whole system is equipped with a rear exhaust outlet as standard, and most models have cruise control.
 
Thanks to the lengthening of the wheelbase, the space in the rear row of Tange has reached the level of a compact SUV, the cushion angle of the rear seat is very good, it will not be said that it is as flat as Lavida, the length of the seat cushion is also appropriate, and it will not be said that the length of the seat cushion is shortened, pretending that the rear space is very large, and the angle of the backrest is slightly straighter, which would be better if you lie a little more. Since Tange has a four-wheel drive model, the bulge of the middle platform will be relatively high, and the seat cushion and backrest in the middle position are more prominent, which is not suitable for riding.
 
The trunk space can only be said to be a normal level for a small SUV, because the rear suspension of the Tango uses a multi-link, which squeezes out part of the space below, and the rear of the car also has a little slipback, which affects the space above, which will be more suitable for a family of three.
 
The European version of the T-Roc received a 5-star rating on the E-NCAP and a score of 96 for adult occupant protection, indicating a very good passive safety performance. ESP is standard on all variants, but merge assist, lane departure warning, and active braking are not standard.
