Hyundai Accos Large Sedan product review

Introduced to the market in the spring of 1999, the Arcos model represented the highest level of Hyundai brand manufacturing, and was called the Centennial in overseas markets, but limited to the level of modern car technology at the time, the first generation of Accos did not cause much repercussions. In May 2009, after a decade, Hyundai developed its own rear-wheel drive chassis and launched the second-generation Arcos, intending to truly enter the luxury car market. But it didn't work out very well.

The current Hyundai Accos was unveiled at the New York Auto Show in 2010 and has been on the market for more than five years. In order to enhance the competitiveness of this product, Hyundai Accos has once again ushered in a new generation.

Of all the powertrains of the current Accos, the best running is the combination of a 5.0-litre 430 hp engine and an 8-speed automatic manual gearbox. Although the Accos has a "snow" mode, the front-rear-wheel drive system is far inferior to Audi's all-wheel drive in terms of ability to get out of trouble, and it is its real effect that reduces the adverse effect of the long wheelbase on handling. Many owners reacted that the 3.8-liter engine of the 09 model was too weak, and the 3.8-liter engine of the 12 model added in-cylinder direct injection technology, and the torque and power were improved a lot, but overall, even if it was equipped with an 8-speed gearbox, the overall feeling was still "unhurried".

The next-generation Arcos will be built on the same platform as Genesis and will be powered by a V8 engine and, for the first time, all-wheel drive, possibly with Hyundai's newly developed 10-speed automatic transmission. In terms of equipment alone, the driving pleasure of the new generation Accos should be much improved.

If you don't want to pay extra for a large car with all the necessary resources, the current Accos may be your best choice. The base version of the Arcos offers blind spot monitoring, a rearview camera, and the 5.0-liter engine runs smoothly enough to turn the rear seats into a makeshift office. The base version of the Arcos has only four seats, while the high-spec version of the Arcos is a five-seater model. Like BMW and Infiniti, the high-end version of Accos is also equipped with a panoramic camera. The interior is spacious enough and the workmanship is good, but some of the controls are complicated. Hyundai's understanding of "luxury" still needs to be improved, and even if consumers are willing to pay more, it is difficult for the luxury features they can buy to be recognized by real luxury brands. The interior of the new generation of Accos may still not be top-of-the-line in terms of luxury and comfort if it were modeled after Genesis.

In terms of safety, in 2015, Hyundai Accos participated in the IIHS four crash tests: frontal moderate overlap collision, side impact, roof impact, headrest and seat, and achieved excellent results. Failure to participate in a frontal collision at a small angle does not meet the highest safety level.
