The Audi S8 is a luxury executive sedan designed based on Audi's flagship sedan, the Audi A8. For a long time, the image of the Audi S8 in the luxury camp has been relatively bleak due to the more eye-catching appearance of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the better driving pleasure of the BMW 7 Series.
Like the Audi "S" and "RS" models, the S8 is the powerhouse of Audi sedans. Unlike competitors from Mercedes, BMW, and Jaguar, all S8s feature the Quattro all-wheel drive system to cope with the extra power demand, providing excellent grip even in wet and cold conditions. The S8 in the Chinese market is equipped with a 4-liter twin-turbocharged 520 hp engine, and the powertrain accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.05 seconds, compared to the BMW 7 Series and Porsche Paramela, the output of the Audi S8 is still conservative. In fact, this S8, which is responsible for "showing muscles", is more like a warm man in actual performance. The combination of the engine and ZEV's 8-speed automatic manual transmission has become a universal match, and it is very well connected with many models on the market. The S8 is equipped with an excellent active noise cancellation system that creates a quiet passenger atmosphere, coupled with stable steering feedback to keep rear passengers more focused as they are negotiating.
The appearance of the previous generation S8 was too "low-key", which made many car owners who bought the S8 for the word luxury cry out for disappointment. In order to change this, the S8 has widened the tires, sharpened the lines, replaced it with a new set of headlights, and the grille shape has been more flamboyant. Audi doesn't offer the S8L for consumers to choose from, but the S8, which is similar in size to the A8, is enough to make the rear passengers happy. In terms of functional configuration, the Audi S8 is basically the same as the A8L imported into China. As a sports sedan, the S8 doesn't have the TT, A4 and R8's virtual cockpit display, and if there are no options, the rear independent dual-zone air conditioning and heated seats will be the only luxury features for rear passengers, while the rear sunshade is limited to the icing on the cake. Overall, these features are still a bit too simple for a million-class sedan.
The new-generation Audi A8 and next-generation A6 share the MLB Evo platform. This generation of Audi A6 has made a lot of progress in terms of quality and reliability, at least in the first five years can not see a large attenuation, given that the previous generation of A6 after five years of use frequently appeared old problems such as burning engine oil, so the S8, like the A8, needs time to test their reliability.
The Audi S8 also has a lot of safety kits, and although the S8 did not participate in crash tests, Audi cars have always had a good safety record, and the S8 is unlikely to be worse than the lower-end Audi sedan.
