Maybach S-Class Large Sedan product review

The Maybach was discontinued in 2012, but Mercedes clearly did not want to abandon the brand that had once been in direct dialogue with Rolls-Royce. Like AMG, Maybach is now a sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz, which means that the name "Maybach" has been revived. However, due to the brand planning relationship, the Double M logo will no longer appear alone. Now the Maybach S-class has put down its body, and the price is not half of the previous Maybach, which is no different from most models in this list.

The Maybach S-Class is based on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but it fails to transplant the Mercedes-Benz S-Class "ballerina"-like handling. In terms of power, the Maybach S 600 is the same as the Mercedes-Benz S 600 L, and in the engine compartment is a 6.0L V12 twin-turbo engine, which does not rev high at the start, and the drive wheels slip when it exceeds 2000rpm. The Maybach S600 and S400 4 MATIC are equipped with the same engine as the regular version, mated to a 7-speed automatic manual transmission, and the matching degree is not as seamless as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class when driving at low speeds. BOTH THE MAYBACH S400 AND THE MERCEDES-BENZ S400 ARE EQUIPPED WITH AIRMATIC AIR SUSPENSION, BUT THE STABILITY THAT THIS SUSPENSION BRINGS TO THE MAYBACH S-CLASS IS FAR INFERIOR TO THAT OF THE MERCEDES-BENZ S-CLASS. The body stability system, known as the "Magic Body Control System", is fitted to the top-of-the-line models, but when it comes to the Maybach S-Class, it struggles to perform as smoothly as it should.

The design of the Maybach S400 and the Mercedes-Benz S400L is almost identical, with the only slight difference being that the front seat ventilation and memory functions are standard on the Maybach S400, while the Mercedes-Benz S400L does not have a memory function. The rear seats are where the difference between the two models is the greatest. Thanks to the longer wheelbase, the Maybach S400 can lie down at a greater angle when the seats are adjusted to a "recline" position, while the rear seats of the Mercedes-Benz S400L have a more limited angle of reclining. The rear doors of the Maybach are "square doors", while the rear doors of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class are more traditional, so passengers do not have to deliberately bow their heads when boarding the Maybach S-class, and they can enter and exit more freely.

Since most of the technology in the Maybach S-Class is directly derived from the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, its reliability is also relatively worrying. The U.S. Consumer Reports predicts that the reliability of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the worst, so the quality stability of the Maybach S-Class will not be too good.

In terms of safety, the Maybach S-Class also did not participate in crash tests, and we believe that its safety level will not be lower than that of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
