The Audi A7 first appeared as a concept car in 2009, and it wasn't long before the production version, codenamed 4G8, was unveiled in 2010, using Audi's C platform. Officially, this generation of A7 is a Gran Turismo, but GT cars, like coupe models, each manufacturer has its own explanation, so don't take it too seriously. Overall, the new generation A7 still follows the Fastback design, four doors, frameless windows, and the trunk is a hatchback design, but the new headlight design and new design elements are used, which makes this generation of A7 different from the old model, but the appearance is still online, and it will not be as entangled as the new CLS.
 
At present, the A7 only has a V6 diesel engine and a gasoline engine, the first to be introduced into China is the TFSI 55 gasoline version, 340 horsepower, 500 Nm of maximum torque, zero hundred results can run in 5.3 seconds, the matching gearbox is S Tronic 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and it will also be equipped with a set of 48V mild hybrid system on the A8. Although this mild hybrid system will increase the curb weight of the A7, it does improve fuel consumption, and the official said that after using this system, fuel consumption will be reduced by 0.7L per 100 kilometers. As a medium and large car weighing nearly two tons and equipped with a V6 engine, the fuel consumption can be about 7-8 liters per 100 kilometers, which is already very good. A more entry-level four-cylinder version will be introduced at a later date, as the CLS is now also the main four-cylinder version.
 
The gearbox of this generation of A7 is still the S Tronic 7-speed dual-clutch, but after all, it is a generation, and the official will definitely say that it has been optimized and upgraded, but it was not mentioned at the press conference what specific optimizations have been made. Not saying it doesn't mean it doesn't mean it doesn't feel it, this set of gearboxes does perform better on this generation of A7 than on other models, not only is there no problem in terms of smoothness and speed of gear shifting, but it can be as smooth as a CVT, but it is not half a beat slower than a CVT. In terms of chassis, A7 uses the MLB Evo platform, which is also more familiar, most of the high-end models of the Volkswagen Group use it, the front and rear are five-link suspension, you can choose sports suspension or air suspension, the whole system is equipped with Quattro four-wheel drive system as standard, rear-wheel steering, driving is very easy, and it does not make people feel that this is a big car. Since the manufacturer dares to advertise that it is a GT car, then it naturally has the corresponding shock absorption and sound insulation performance, this generation of A7 is equipped with a large wheel size, not 20 inches or 21 inches, with such a large wheel, it does have a slight tire noise on some rough roads, but overall it is still a very quiet car, the action of shock filtration is also quite calm, it is a car suitable for long-distance driving and riding.
 
Now Audi is mainly taking the technological route in the interior, and there are only two touch screens left in the central control multimedia system, which looks very avant-garde, but when driving, you can only bow your head to operate, which is a bit more than worth the loss, not to mention that these two screens are typical fingerprint collectors. The leather of the A7 interior is very high-end, but it is very low-key, and the light-colored interior can also highlight the texture, if it is a black interior, it is too low-key, and it is difficult to experience that meticulous feeling if you don't sit in it or touch it.
 
The rear seat space is relatively sufficient in the fastback model, but passengers above 1.8 meters will be slightly upset, and the middle platform will be relatively high due to the four-wheel drive system, and the central backrest and seat cushion are more prominent, which is not suitable for riding. The rear window area is large enough that it will not feel oppressive, but the window cannot be completely lowered, at most it can only be lowered by half, which is not very accustomed to here.
 
In terms of safety, models using the MLB Evo platform have always performed very well, although the second-generation A7 did not participate in the IIHS and E-NCAP crash tests, but the new generation A6 received 5-star praise on the E-NCAP, with 93 points in the occupant protection category, and the A7 positioning is higher than the A6, and the expectations in terms of active and passive safety are more optimistic, so there is no need to worry.
