Cadillac in 2013 with XTS to replace DTS and STS (domestic for the extended version of SLS) two rear-drive flagships, XTS full name is X-serie Touring Sedan, and Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala are from the Epsilon II platform, but the wheelbase is elongated, only front-wheel drive models in China, and the American version will have four-wheel drive models.
 
After two facelifts, the XTS is now at the end of its life cycle. After the CT6 came out, the positioning of XTS and CT6 overlapped, and the naming of Cadillac after the adoption of new rules, the sedan will be named CT6, CT4 and so on.
 
In the early days, XTS had a 3.6L V6 engine with the model LFX, but the emission regulations were gradually tightened and the V6 model did not sell well, so the V6 model was cancelled in 2015. The 28T has always used a 2.0T engine (LTG), the power tuning is more aggressive, and the maximum horsepower reaches 269, which exceeds the high-power version of the BMW B48 (252Ps), and the 000 acceleration time is about 8.3 seconds, which is more than 1 second slower than the current BMW 530.
 
Now GM Group has popularized the LSY engine, XTS this LTG engine from the technical level, behind the LSY generation, but it is not useless, after all, it has won the "2013 Ward Best Engine", twin scroll, in-cylinder direct injection these technologies are still relatively mainstream today, but XTS is also about to face discontinuation, LTG engine will gradually withdraw from the stage.
 
The gearbox matched with the LTG engine is GM's own 6T70, 6-speed automatic transmission, from the use experience, the shift smoothness and response speed of this gearbox is still very good, at least it will be much better than GM's set of 8L45. GM is now gradually popularizing multi-speed transmissions, and the Hydra-matic 9AT is indeed very good, but the XTS is about to be discontinued, and the possibility of using the 9AT is also very small, which is a pity.
 
The early XTS was equipped with MRC electromagnetic suspension on the high-spec variants, which was a good balance between handling bumpy terrain and providing support, but this equipment has now been eliminated and mechanical suspension is standard across the range. This set of suspension tuning is more comfortable, a little softer than the previous model, although it will be more comfortable when dealing with bumps, but there are certain trade-offs, such as in urban low-speed road conditions often stop-and-go, stepping on the accelerator will look up, brakes will nod; When the highway changes lanes, the car body will sway from side to side; With the steering wheel with a weak midpoint and weak return force in the later model, the handling is also much weaker than that of the previous model.
 
Shock filtration and sound insulation have always been Cadillac's lower cost items, which is particularly well reflected in the rear row of the XTS, the engine noise and wind noise are relatively weak, the 18-inch wheels are not too exaggerated, and the tire noise is not obvious.
 
XTS's driving vision is an obvious shortcoming, the A-pillar is very thick, the left and right window lines are very high, the rear windshield is small, and the engine cover is high, resulting in narrow roads or when turning, passers-by on the left and right will be blocked, and the distance between the front right front of the car is not easy to grasp, so you need to slow down and drive carefully.
 
The design sense of the interior is not Cadillac's strong point, and the appearance lacks the atmosphere that a luxury brand should have, but the materials used are very classy, and the whole car is covered with leather and soft plastic. The central control multimedia is Cadillac's CUE system, the touch of the later model is smooth, the response is relatively fast, and it also supports Apple CarPlay, which is in a more advanced position in the same level in terms of mobile phone interconnection.
 
The front seats are large and supportive, and the top-of-the-line version can also manually extend the seat cushion, but it's mostly useless because the extended seat cushion is too long for most drivers. Except for the headroom in the rear seats, the rest of the place is quite decent, and the rear seats are not too crowded for three people, but the padding of this cushion is relatively hard, and the shape of the backrest is relatively straight, lacking a certain amount of wrapping.
 
XTS continues Cadillac's poor reliability, especially in the multimedia system in the car, which often has a black screen, failure and other failures, which is already a common problem of XTS. In the reliability survey of the American "Consumer Reports", XTS is also at a lower middle level, and the fault points of the whole car are relatively scattered, the early model is mainly concentrated in the suspension system, and the failure of the electronic system in the car is a common problem of the whole model.
 
XTS's safety performance is mediocre. In 2013~2019, they only participated in the IIHS frontal moderate overlap collision, side impact, top impact, headrest and seat crash test, and the results were all excellent, but they did not participate in the frontal small-angle overlap crash test, nor did they participate in the co-pilot small-area crash test, and did not win awards.
