After the phaeton was discontinued, Volkswagen needed a new model to serve as a flagship sedan, so there was Phaeon. Although the Phaeon is now Volkswagen's flagship sedan, the difference between it and the Phaeton is actually very clear. First of all, the Phaeon uses the MLB platform of the previous generation A6 and is a C-class car, while the Phaeton uses the D1 platform and is a D-class car, and the two platforms are different; Secondly, the Phaeton is produced by SAIC Volkswagen and is only sold in China, while the Phaeton is produced in Dresden, Germany, and is a global model that is imported and sold, so the Phaeton cannot be regarded as the successor model of the Phaeton.
From the point of view of appearance, the size difference between Huiang and Phaeton is not big, the length of the car is 10 cm shorter than that of Phaeton, but the car height is 4 cm higher, the biggest difference between the two appears in the design style, Huiang uses Volkswagen's previously released C Coupe concept car as the prototype, there will be more lines on the body, it looks like the current A6, and Phaeton is much more rounded, obviously with the taste of the previous generation of Volkswagen models.
The low-spec model uses the EA888 vortex engine, paired with the DL382 seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, and the high-spec model uses the EA837 supercharged V6 engine with DL501 seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. Now the Volkswagen Group has basically switched to turbocharging at this level, and the engine increase model is rare, if you have a little nostalgia for the V6 engine engine, the 480 V6 is one of the few options in the same class.
The 2.0T EA888 engine with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission will be weaker than the V6 version in terms of power, but it is completely enough for a C-class car, after all, the current A6L is mainly 45 TFSI, and the maximum output is 224 horsepower, which is the same as the 380TSI of Huiang. The noise of this engine is well isolated on the Fion and is hardly audible in everyday driving. The seven-speed wet dual-clutch is also very smooth, with only slight bumps in very occasional cases, which is acceptable.
The 480 V6 uses air suspension, while the 380TSI uses spring damping, and the front and rear suspension are different, with the front suspension filtering cleaner when the vibration is finely shattered, while the rear suspension feels subtle vibrations. The suspension adjustment is soft in daily driving, in line with the consistent style of the public, and the wider wheel base is very stable when going straight, but if there are potholes on one side, or quickly change the line, you will feel that the body has obvious shaking, and there are gains and losses.
The sound insulation and quietness of Huiang are actually very good, the engine noise and wind noise are well isolated, and the V6 model will use double-layer laminated glass, which also improves the sound insulation performance. The biggest impact on the quietness of the cabin is the tires, because the Huion is equipped with Michelin PS3 as standard, this set of tires is biased towards performance, and it is also more provocative, and obvious tire noise will be felt on some rough asphalt roads. Huiang itself does not take sports as a selling point, and replacing silent tires will significantly improve the driving experience.
The center console of Huiang, like other Volkswagen, does not have much sense of design, but it is very easy to use on a daily basis and does not have too high learning costs. Compared to other Volkswagen models, the workmanship of the Fion is very commendable, with slush molding stitching in visible places, leather wrapping in invisible places, and soft materials on both sides of the center console to prevent knees from hitting the center console. The seats have some quilted stitching, and the headrests of the high-end models have side wing clamping, which has a good sense of quality. Among the several interior colors of the Huiang, the light-colored accessories have the best appearance but are not resistant to dirt, and the black interior, although much more low-key, does not need to be taken care of.
Huiang's rear seat feels very good, the sitting position is high enough, the back and legs have enough support, and the vision is also very wide, but the high and low configuration of 380TSI has obvious differences in the rear row, and the high-end model will have seat adjustment and ventilation and heating massage, and the low-end configuration does not have so many comfort configurations.
In terms of reliability, Huiang's complaints mainly appear in the 2.0T model, which has a small chance of transmission oil leakage, while the V6 model has fewer complaints, and there is no high incidence of failure in the three major aspects.
In terms of safety, the MLB platform has not participated in crash tests and will not give too low safety expectations unless there is a serious safety hazard.
