S60 is a classic model of Volvo, each generation of the product cycle is relatively long, the first generation has been sold from 2000 to 2009, the second generation of models from 2010 to 2018, currently on sale is the second generation of the model, S60 is an imported model, S60L is a domestic long-axle version of the model, the third generation is expected to go on sale in 2019.
The fully imported S60 only has a 2.0T engine, the T5 version uses a B4204T9 engine with a maximum horsepower of 245 hp and a maximum torque of 350 Nm, and a Polestar Performance Edition, which uses a B4204T43 engine with a maximum horsepower of 367 hp and a maximum torque of 470 Nm, which can run in 5.24 seconds from zero to 100 acceleration, while the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, which is known as the strongest 2.0T on the surface, can run in 4.4 seconds.
The domestically produced S60L is produced by Volvo Asia Pacific Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and the 2019 model year has canceled the T4 version, leaving only the T3 and T5. The T3 is powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged engine codenamed B4154T4 with a maximum horsepower of 152 hp mated to a six-speed automatic manual transmission, while the T5 version is a four-cylinder turbocharged engine codenamed B4204T11 paired with an eight-speed automatic manual transmission.
The domestic S60L and the imported S60, in terms of appearance, the difference is not very big, because first, it is only lengthened by 8 cm, BMW's long shaft version is added by 11 cm, and the second point is that the S60L has designed the cockpit part from the new, so the overall sense is a little stronger, and it will not look very abrupt.
Although a mid-size car with 245 hp looks like a lot of power, in fact, when it comes to Volvo, it can only be regarded as brisk at best, and it is still quite far from the word sporty. The S60 is sporty in other regions, but in China the wheelbase is lengthened, and the taste of sportiness is much lighter. The tuning of the entire powertrain of the S60L is very mature, and the gear shift is smooth, but the movement of the gear shift is larger than that of the BMW 8AT, and the power response is relatively timely, and one-third of the throttle can already provide enough power.
The suspension of the S60L is on the stiff side, which may make people feel a little bumpy in daily driving, which is also its more obvious shortcoming, but the support will be better when cornering, the chassis is very tight, and in long-distance driving, the comfort of the S60L is not as good as that of the BBA of the same level.
Quietness is a good point of S60L, but it can only be said to be good, tire noise is still present, wind noise suppression is better, the sound of engine operation will come in, and it is not very good, fortunately it does not produce any nuisance when driving.
S60L interior is actually very outdated, because since the launch has not been upgraded, in the current market, you are difficult to find so many physical buttons of the model, although its materials and workmanship are indeed very good, but Volvo's new generation of models in the central control of the improvement is very large, it is recommended that you wait and see, and wait for the new generation of S60 to go on the market.
In terms of safety, the S60 has done a very good job, the 2017 model year has once again been selected as the top safety model (TSP) of the IIHS, and has performed well in all crash events, and the active safety system is also very responsive, so there is nothing to worry about the safety of Volvo cars.
