Infiniti's Q series has a short history, it was a new name that began to be adopted in 2013, formerly known as the G series, when G25 and G37 were still imported and sold, because now the large displacement self-priming rear-drive sedan has been declining, so the G37 is also favored by many large rows of self-priming fans in the second-hand market.
The early Q50 was imported and sold, mainly 2.0T and 3.7L self-priming two versions, the 2.0T powertrain is Mercedes-Benz M274 engine with 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission, the 3.7L self-aspirated version is Nissan VQ37VHR with 7-G Tronic, and the Red Sport performance version is equipped with VR30DDTT engine, The Zero Hundred can run in 5.1 seconds, but it is rare on the market, and there is also a hybrid version, which is the VQ35HR with a 50kW motor, and the gearbox is changed to Jatco's JR712E, which is also a 7-speed automatic transmission.
At present, the mainstream sales of the Q50 on the market are the long-axle version produced by Dongfeng Motor's Hubei Xiangyang plant, that is, the Q50L, and its powertrain is Mercedes-Benz M274 and 7G-Tronic transmission, and there is no self-aspirated version. This set of powertrain 000 acceleration time is 7.2 seconds, to meet the needs of daily driving is no problem, but the smoothness of the gearbox has a hard injury, which is also a common problem of 7G-Tronic, when decelerating and downshifting, there will often be a sense of pulling, the phenomenon of frustration is more serious, and when driving fiercely, the shift speed is also obviously slow. Mercedes-Benz C-class has now switched to 9G-Tronic, Q50L is still using the previous generation of gearbox, in fact, it is not the old gearbox is not good, but Mercedes-Benz this 7G-Tronic will indeed lag behind in performance.
The handling of the Q50L is mainly determined by the steering feel, and the high-end models have DAS fly-by-wire power steering, but the steering feel of the first-generation DAS is very strange, and the connection between the steering wheel and the wheel steering is very weak, which is only suitable for daily commuting. Other configurations are equipped with electronic power steering, but the feel is on the heavy side, even compared to some hydraulic steering power, the steering wheel of the Q50L is also on the heavy side, and you need to get used to it.
Q50's chassis tuning is sporty, but it takes into account a certain daily use, the style is more unified when dealing with large and small vibrations, they are all tough, but the suspension action is very crisp, basically there is no extra aftershock, its main problem is that the standard run-flat tire will have some bumps when dealing with small shocks, and the suppression of tire noise is not excellent.
Q50L is not excellent in terms of sound insulation and noise reduction, on the one hand, it is the tire noise problem mentioned earlier, on the other hand, it is engine noise, in the case of not opening the window and not opening the stereo, you will often hear the roar of the engine, if this sound is related to sports, engine noise plus simulated sound, it can indeed create a very sporty atmosphere.
Infiniti's interior materials are better, but the assembly process control of domestic models is slightly poor, and the door panels on both sides of the front row will have some abnormal noises. There is very little storage space in the front row, except for two cup holders, which is the central armrest box, but the internal space of the armrest box is not large, and only some odds and ends can be placed.
The central control multimedia looks like two screens, creating a sense of science and technology, but the upper screen is a map, which is basically not used, and the touch screen below is very slow, and it is difficult for people to have the desire to use it in daily life, which is an obvious shortcoming. The sound quality of the low-spec model is average, and the high-spec will be equipped with a 12-speaker Bose stereo, and the sound quality will be much better. Although Infiniti is a luxury brand, it lacks the atmosphere of sophistication and luxury compared to BBAL in its class.
In terms of riding, the Q50L is very good, the rear row of the long-axle version has very ample head and leg room, and the shape and padding of the seats are very comfortable, which is very suitable for long-distance rides, but the inherent central platform of the rear-wheel drive model is still a major factor affecting the rear seat space, and the passengers in the middle will be more embarrassed.
The quality and reliability of Infiniti is not particularly good, the overseas version of the Q50 in the United States "Consumer Reports" reliability evaluation is low, the problem is not in the three major parts, but some electronic equipment in the car will have a high incidence of failure, the domestic version of the Q50L main complaints come from the gearbox frustration, as well as abnormal noise in the car, other small problems are not much, as long as it is not a collision, overall it is relatively worry-free.
The Q50 did not participate in the small-area offset crash test of the main and co-pilot in the IIHS, and did not have the highest safety evaluation, but the other crash items were all Good scores, and at the same time, it also received a 5-star safety evaluation in the 2013 E-NCAP and 2014 A-NCAP, overall, safety is still guaranteed.
