It uses the Arteon name abroad, and the price is very similar to the Audi A5, but in China, it becomes the second-generation CC, which is positioned higher in the mid-size car, half a level higher than its own Magotan and Passat.
The new generation of CC has a lot of inheritance and innovation, and what has been inherited is a Fastback shape, which is also very similar to the Audi A5 in terms of appearance, and the four windows are still frameless; The innovation is its front part, replaced with a new grille design, the next stage of Volkswagen models will also be widely used this kind of grille, the hood has also been fully covered design, although there is no functional role, but in the design, the connection between the hood and the body waistline has become very natural. The biggest highlight of the rear part of the car is the tailgate lid of the hatchback, the tailbox of the previous generation CC is an ordinary way to open, this generation uses a hatchback, although it is very good in taking large luggage, or visual effects, but the reliability of the hatchback mechanism itself will be tested greatly.
The powertrain is a high and low version of the 2.0T engine, the low-power version is 180 horsepower, the high-power version is 220 horsepower, with DQ381 seven-speed wet dual-clutch, Volkswagen's wet dual-clutch adjustment in recent years is biased towards slowing down the shift speed, a foot of floor oil can of course still be very quickly down a few gears, but in daily driving, the shift speed has been slower than before, reduce the shift speed, there are considerations to protect the gearbox, there are also considerations to ensure smoothness, if you pursue the lightness of shifting, the responsiveness of power, Audi's dual-clutch models do better than Volkswagen in this regard.
Suspension is not standard with DCC adaptive suspension, it has 14 sections of soft and hard adjustable, except for the difference between the softest and hardest ends is very obvious, the others are not very extreme, adjust to the softest will also hear a lot of fine tire vibration, adjust to the hardest, although the support is very good, but the body roll action is still a little bigger. The limit of the chassis is very high, but the adjustment of the steering wheel is relatively vague, and the sense of communication between people and vehicles is not strong.
Compared with the appearance, the interior of this generation of CC is very boring, because it is to take the set above the Magotan and replace it with a little carbon fiber trim, and the high-end models will have an LCD instrument panel, and there will be gesture control, but there are not many functions, that is, adjust the volume, switch the icon, and confirm that you still need to click with your fingers.
The field of vision is affected by the shape, the overall performance is not good, if the sitting position is relatively high, the front vision will be partially covered by the ceiling, if it is adjusted lower, the left window has little impact, but the right side of the rearview mirror is very small, the bottom will be partially covered by the window line, and the model with the display may not be able to see all the information of the lift. The shape of the fastback results in a narrow area of the rear windshield, and the CC also adds a headrest in the center of the rear row, which makes the overall rear view even worse.
This time, the CC is the same as the foreign version, and the wheelbase is not extended. Because this generation of CC itself is 110mm longer than the previous generation, it is obvious in the rear space, the knee room has exceeded a palm, and the head is also empty, and there will be no feeling of head above 1.8 meters. The central platform bulge is quite high, because the foreign Arteon has a four-wheel drive version, and the CC that shares the same platform also shares the disadvantages of this platform. The seat cushion and backrest of the CC rear row are designed, and the sitting posture is much more natural than that of the Magotan, and the material of the seat cushion is hard, so it will not feel very comfortable as soon as you sit on it like a Japanese car.
The previous generation CC performed very poorly in the reliability survey of the US consumer report, basically every part of the fault will occur, but the degree is different, and in the second generation of the model, the US consumer report only gave an expected reliability score of 2 out of 5, which is not optimistic.
Arteon participated in both the E-NCAP and A-NCAP crash tests overseas, and both received 5-star ratings and a score of 96 in both occupant protection categories, which was among the top five in 2017 on the E-NCAP category.
