The Jade is a model launched by Dongfeng Honda in the Chinese market in 2013. It was once thought to be Honda's car designed for the Chinese market, but when Honda introduced the car to Japan more than a year later, it dawned on people that it was the successor to Honda's compact MPV, the Honda Stream, in the Asian market, and its low-profile body was prepared for the double-decker parking spaces that have become popular in Japan in recent years.
The Jade has a great relationship with the Civic, which shares the same power and chassis as the ninth-generation Civic, and the front end is almost identical. The overall shape of the Jade is also very similar to Honda's Civic Touring in Europe, but it has a three-row six-seater version in addition to the five-seater. It can be said that the five-seater version of the Jed is about the same as the Civic Touring version because of its wide trunk, and the six-seat version of the Jade is equivalent to the rhyme of the times.
As a compact car, the Jed has a huge wheelbase, its wheelbase is up to 2760 mm, which stands on the same level as the Camry, Accord, and Teana, while the maximum wheelbase of the average compact car is only 2700 mm. Strictly speaking, it was supposed to be a station wagon, but the model was too narrow in the Chinese market to form a category, so we put the Jade in the category of "practical compact cars" based on its power and design characteristics.
The Jed 210BURBO is equipped with the 1.5T turbocharged engine of the Honda Civic, but in order to adapt to its domestic use, the calibration of the engine has been modified, so the model with it is named 220, while the Jed is 210. The retuned 1.5T engine won't give you the same acceleration pleasure as the Civic on this daddy car, but the acceleration performance will be far better than the previous generation of the Jed with a 1.8 naturally aspirated engine.
Like the previous generation Civic, the Jed has a rear suspension that uses double wishbone independent suspension. However, the Civic is designed with a shock absorber and spring separation, while the Jade is a one-piece design. The handling limit of the double wishbone suspension is theoretically stronger than that of the torsion beam suspension car, of course, the main purpose of this suspension on the Jed is to make the passengers more comfortable, according to the media road test evaluation, the new Jed is more comfortable than the previous generation.
The biggest highlight of the Jed is its use of space, he is probably the widest and most comfortable compact sedan, the five-seater Jed has a very considerable trunk, and it is different from the European station wagon only plus the trunk without rear space, its rear legroom is also close to the level of the intermediate car.
The six-seater Jed's third-row seats are much more practical than other compact MPVs, including the Mazda5 and Volkswagen Touran, but the problem is that when all six seats are used, there is not much luggage compartment space. This car is very suitable for urban families with two children, especially if there are two elderly people in the family, and the family composition of four large and two small families. However, on rural unpaved roads, its low chassis height can be a problem.
The Jade isn't a hot car at the moment, so it has a decent deal. If you're not looking for a quick engine explosion, if your car needs are mainly urban and home-based, and if your budget is a little more relaxed, we really can't think of a more family-friendly option than Jade at this level for the time being.
