Buick Yinglang 120,000 yuan sedan product evaluation

Most of GM's car lineup in China is a mess. Yinglang is a new car launched by GM's Buick brand in China, but it continues to use the same English name as the Buick Excelle, with the hatchback version called Excelle GT and the sedan version called Excelle XT. Now Buick is determined to stop production of Kaiyue with the determination of a strong man to break his wrist, and Yinglang is the entry model of the Buick brand to realize the rise of Buick's brand image, but another cousin of Yinglang, the higher positioning of Valeant, has emerged again, so Yinglang's positioning has sunk and become a "practical" compact car.

As we all know, the previous generation of Yinglang was actually a German car with the Buick logo, it was Opel's Astra, and in the United Kingdom it was also called Astra, but with the Vauxhall logo. After SAIC-GM introduced Yinglang into China, it basically retained the characteristics of the overseas version of the model, except for the Buick logo, there were basically no changes in other places.

The current Yinglang has nothing to do with European models, it is a model completely independently developed by SAIC-GM. The previous generation of Yinglang achieved quite high sales results, and Yinglang still constitutes the main sales force of the entire Buick brand, and at present, Yinglang still maintains multiple powertrains sold at the same time. The current Yinglang is a 3-cylinder engine, but there are 1.0T and 1.3T, the 1.0T engine is codenamed LJI, 125 horsepower, the tail mark is 15T, with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, the 1.3T engine is codenamed LI6, the tail mark is 18T, the power tuning is relatively aggressive, reaching 163 horsepower, 230 Nm of torque, with Buick's own six-speed automatic manual transmission (GF6).

Yinglang's dual-clutch gearbox can ruin almost all the advantages of this car in handling. This dual-clutch has a very serious stumble at low speeds, and no matter how carefully you control the throttle, you will not get a comfortable and smooth ride. And it seems that it is precisely because of the dual-clutch characteristics that the shifting logic of this gearbox is very confusing, and in the case of controlling the throttle with the brake in advance, if you press the throttle deeply to accelerate, it is likely to usher in a upshift. This very enthusiastic upshift gearbox is not only uncomfortable in congested road conditions, but also exhausting on high-speed roads where frequent deceleration-acceleration-overtaking is required.

GM GF6 six-speed automatic transmission reliability reputation is not good, failure rate and complaint rate has always been high, as an entry-level GM model, Yinglang is not equipped with GM's latest Hydra-matic 9AT, so the current Yinglang three major pieces are two of the most unpleasant. GM's three-cylinder engine has made relatively radical adjustments in terms of power, and the power performance is no problem at all, but it has congenital defects, even if GM uses a balance shaft, it still does not solve the problem of shaking, so GM relies on engine mounts and soundproofing materials to limit jitter to the engine compartment, at least in the cockpit will not feel obvious shaking.

SAIC-GM's Buick Yinglang received a five-star rating in the second batch of tests in China in 2015 and received a high score of 52.5 points, which we consider to be a trustworthy car in terms of safety.
