Chevrolet Cruze 120,000 yuan sedan product evaluation

Cruze is also a young brand, and compared to its previous success, Cruze is currently a bit of a stare.

In the Chinese market, the first generation of domestic Cruze was launched in 2009, and has been sold so far, now known as "Cruze Classic", the first Cruze was born to create a sales myth, and even long-term 50% of the total sales of the Chevrolet brand in China, its tough American muscle car lines have become the favorite of countless Chinese young people. In fact, the exterior and interior of this car were designed by the Korean team, but the chassis and powertrain were built by the German team. In 2014, Chevrolet launched the second generation Cruze in the Chinese market, this time completely designed by the German Opel, but not a global model, soon after the second generation of the American version of the Cruze was launched, so today we see the new Cruze based on the American version of the Cruze, the third generation of Cruze is currently sold in the same hall on the terminal.

However, today about 70% of the Cruze's sales in the Chinese market are contributed by the facelift of the first-generation Cruze, the "Classic Cruze".

We consider the classic Cruze to be a car that is not worth buying. It starts briskly and feels easy at low speeds, but when it comes to 80 yards or more, the engine and drivetrain suddenly lose connection, and you can hear the engine roar when you press the throttle deeply, with very little change in speed. The lag in the car's power is also very striking, sometimes taking several seconds from the time the accelerator pedal is pressed to the time the power output is increased.

Fuel consumption is also a big problem for the classic Cruze, when driving at a constant speed of 80 yards, the engine speed often goes up to about 2500 rpm, if the speed reaches 120 per hour, the engine speed often reaches more than 3500, which inevitably leads to high fuel consumption. And when the driver stops pressing the accelerator, the engine often continues to rev at a high speed for several seconds. The classic Cruze also has a very poor experience with braking, the first half of the brake pedal is almost invisible, and it is difficult for you to reduce the speed of the car by pressing lightly, and if you step on the second half, the braking will come unexpectedly, causing the car to suddenly stutter.

It's a pity that the 1.5L version of the latest version of the third-generation Cruze is still inheriting the problems of the classic Cruze in terms of power, of course, if you choose to buy the 1.4T version, you will not have this problem at all. The Cruze's 1.4T turbocharged engine with direct in-cylinder injection technology is probably the best of all the 1.4T dual-clutch models in its class, at least it doesn't slow down enough to make you doubt your life when starting and at low speeds, and everything else does.

It's only on the 1.4T version that you'll feel that the Cruze handles well, and if you choose the 1.5L version, probably most of your attention will be focused on how to push this American car with its weak power due to the strange power characteristics of the engine.

The elongated wheelbase of the third-generation Cruze has significantly improved the interior space, because it was originally the first real "American car" of the Cruze family in China, and its driving texture is also very good, the chassis is neither bumpy nor unnecessary, and the quietness is not bad, and it is still very enjoyable to ride in this car.

GM has always had a relatively stable quality of car manufacturing, but the Cruze has not performed well, and the Cruze that is more than four years old often begins to have problems, and the quality of GM's "global resources" to build new models seems to be less reliable than the cars it developed in the United States, which may be one of the disadvantages of GM's "global car manufacturing".

The Cruze also needs to be safer, as it was also a TSP premium safety model until 2013, but it fell out of that safety level after the introduction of the IIHS's new frontal 25% offset crash test. The U.S. version of the Cruze is equipped with an active safety system with low sensitivity, but fortunately it has eliminated this configuration in China.

If you want an American car and you like the shape of the Cruz, then we only recommend buying the 1.4T version of the third-generation Cruz, other versions can sometimes make you wonder if you are not buying a "real" Cruz.
