The Volvo V40 was launched in 2012 to replace the previous S40. The V40 represents that it belongs to the series of station wagons, but it is officially positioned as a hatchback. Belonging to the same series as the V40, there is also the V40 Cross Country, which has a raised chassis and a full-time four-wheel drive system, which belongs to the crossover model.
Now the V40 is in an awkward position in Volvo's entire product line, although after the 2016 facelift, a new family design elements have been added, and some configurations have been added, but this model is relatively old, close to the replacement, and the next generation V40 will be released soon. On the other hand, Volvo launched the XC40, a compact SUV, which also had a greater impact on the V40 and V40CC.
The V40 has two versions in China, T3 and T4, and the V40 CC has two versions, T3 and T5, both of which are four-cylinder turbocharged engines, but the T3 is 1.5T, and the T4 and T5 are 2.0T. The V40 is equipped with Aisin's 6AT, the V40 CC is equipped with an Aisin 6AT in the T3 version, and the T5 is equipped with an Aisin 8AT. V40 This set of Aisin 6AT looks a bit outdated, but the tuning is very mature, the logic is clear, the daily driving is very smooth, and there will not be too many slots, and although the performance of this set of 8AT is also good, but compared with ZF's 8AT, there is still a gap, and the switch of some gears is still a little hesitant.
The suspension tuning of the V40 is already soft in its class, but the travel is not long, and it will still be stiff when passing some big potholes. The upper part of the carriage is very well insulated, and the isolation of road noise and wind noise is very good, but the chassis sound insulation does not take much effort, and there will be tire noise into the carriage if the speed is a little faster.
The interior of the V40 still retains Volvo's good materials and workmanship, which is already considered superior in this level of luxury brand, but the central control part still retains the design of the previous generation, although the physical buttons are convenient, but too many physical buttons will look a little outdated in appearance, if you can put Volvo's new touch screen on the V40, it will be much better.
V40's rear space is at a normal level in its class, the space for knees and head is barely enough, the length of the seat cushion looks long enough, but when you sit on it, you will find that because the legs can't stretch forward too much, the support for the thighs is not enough, and the backrest of the seat is limited by space, and the angle is also straight.
The trunk space is at a normal level in the same class, not spacious, the rear seats support reclining, and the floor is fully flat after being folded, but the height is not enough due to the limited styling.
