Lexus CT luxury brand compact sedan product review

Launched in 2011 and landed in China, the Lexus CT is the cheapest Lexus sedan, and all models are powered by a 1.8L gasoline engine and a hybrid electric motor.

Lexus cars are generally comfortable and luxurious, but the CT, as a sedan aimed at the younger group, flaunts sportiness. Thanks to the hybrid system of the previous generation Prius, the CT has very low fuel consumption, and the engine and electric motor work together to achieve extremely smooth power, light handling, precise steering, and a high sense of driving quality. The acceleration of around 10 seconds slows down the sportiness of this car, and it is unrealistic to want to use it for drag racing, but if used as a city commuter, it is definitely a car that is both easy to drive and fuel-efficient.

The CT is not a typical Lexus, and despite the very comfortable front seats and a very high-tech cockpit design, it is not particularly comfortable by the standards of a "luxury brand", with stiff suspension and high road noise from the tires. Its wheelbase is somewhere between compact and mid-range, but the rear space isn't as spacious as the latest-generation Corolla, and the CT doesn't have as many storage compartments and cup holders as other Toyotas, so it's not as good in terms of suitability. However, in terms of interior, the CT still maintains the usual level of Lexus, with tight and compact workmanship, and the design of the center console is still full of quality today.

In terms of quality, Lexus has the industry's best reputation for quality reliability and is known as a "car that can't make mistakes", and the CT also has very good results in the failure rate statistics in the United States. However, Lexus is also a victim of Takata airbags, and Toyota has carried out a large-scale recall in July 2016 due to possible defects in the oil suction and airbags.

The safety of the CT is completely worry-free, and since its launch, it has been the safest sedan, and the CT with the addition of the active collision avoidance system is currently the top safety sedan (TSP) in the IIHS.
