In terms of design elements, Lingpai also adopts Honda's new family elements, especially the headlights and taillights, the characteristics are very obvious, the design of the front face and tail is a bit like the tenth-generation Accord, but the middle part retains the complex lines of the previous generation Lingpai, the overall match is not very harmonious, and the design level is still significantly different from the Civic and Accord developed in the United States.
In terms of chassis, Lingpai still continues to use the platform of the previous generation, using the front MacPherson rear torsion beam collocation, but the size of all aspects of the body has increased, the wheelbase has increased by 80mm, the length of the car has increased by 106mm, and the width of the car has also increased by 54mm, and the size of the vehicle is larger than that of the tenth generation Civic, and these figures are all reflected in the interior space.
In terms of powertrain, this generation of Lingpai only has a 1.0T three-cylinder turbocharged engine codenamed P10A3, paired with a CVT gearbox, and the power tuning of the engine is slightly lower than that of the 1.0T Civic, with 122 horsepower, but the maximum torque is the same, 173N·m. This three-cylinder engine in daily driving, noise and vibration suppression is not too good, daily start, in the 1000 rpm or so will appear jitter, 1000-2000 rpm range of output is not sufficient, in the power demand is given, especially when more than 80km/h, due to the basic displacement is not enough, can only pull the speed up, and then the engine noise will be transmitted into the cabin, NVH is an obvious shortcoming.
The foot feeling of the accelerator and brake is soft, it is relatively linear, the brake uses electronic assistance, but the tuning is general, the first half will indeed be soft, the response speed of the throttle is not particularly fast, and it will take a while to improve the power after stepping on it, and it is still very domestic in general. The tuning of the suspension can be praised, flexible and crisp, with good texture, it can erase most of the road feeling, and the filtration of fine vibration is also very sufficient, although the rear suspension is a torsion beam, but the ride in the rear row is still very comfortable. While ensuring comfort, its steering is still relatively sensitive, and the directivity is relatively clear, compared with the simple comfort orientation of the previous generation, this generation of Lingpai also takes into account a little bit of driving pleasure.
Sound insulation is not a project that Honda is particularly good at, but Lingpai's tire noise and road noise isolation is praised, because it has increased sound insulation materials in many places, including even the engine cover, tail box cover, spare tire cover, these places have sound insulation cotton, the main source of noise in the cabin is still from the engine.
In terms of interior, this generation of Lingpai will be better than the previous generation, although the top of the instrument panel is still hard plastic, but the position of leather wrapping has increased a lot, and the seats wrapped in imitation leather feel are not bad, from the perspective of appearance, there will be no obvious sense of cheapness. There are no bright spots near the central control, because the smoothness of this multimedia system is actually average, and the response speed of the point control is OK, but it does not support Apple Carplay and Android Auto, which is slightly behind compared to other competitors.
Thanks to the lengthened wheelbase and width, the Lingpai's rear space performance is quite good, and it can seat three adults for a long time, because its central platform is almost completely flat, the central seat cushion and backrest are not too prominent, the padding material is also very soft, and there will be no lack of head and leg room when sitting in the middle. The seat cushion is a little shorter, and the backrest is reclining at a lower angle so that it doesn't put too much pressure on the lower back.
Lingpai's trunk volume is 561 liters, which is relatively excellent compared to other models, but its rear seats do not support reclining, so the expandability is greatly limited, in order to make up for this defect, Honda has added a channel at the rear armrest to facilitate access and placement of items from the trunk, and a hidden storage space is set up near this channel.
The previous generation of Lingpai scored 56.6 points in the C-NCAP China crash test and received a 5-star evaluation, while the proportion of high-strength steel used in this generation of Lingpai has increased to 48%, and the high-end model will be equipped with Honda Sensing active safety configuration, which will improve safety compared with the previous generation model.
