Hyundai Lead's sixth-generation Elantra was officially launched in China in March 2016 at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. Hyundai's product layout in China can be confusing, if you walk into the Hyundai 4S store in Beijing, you will see three Elantra with different names on sale at the same time, they are Yuedong (4th generation Elantra), Langdong (5th generation Elantra) and the latest Lingdong (6th generation Elantra).
The latest generation of Elantra Lingdong is equipped with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated and 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, of which the 1.6-liter version is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission from Pavote, and the 1.4-liter version is fully equipped with a dual-clutch transmission, which is produced by Dymos. Both versions perform well at the driving level, with the 1.6L paired with the 6AT a slightly mediocre ride, but it is more traditional and reliable, and the daily driving is smooth. The 1.4T is equipped with a dual-clutch transmission, which can be on par with the Volkswagen Golf among similar products on the market, and the shift speed is much faster than that of the 6AT, and the shift smoothness is still very good. Since the difference between the two engines in terms of power output is not large, if you are worried about the reliability of the dual-clutch transmission, it is recommended to choose the 1.6L version, and if you have a little pursuit of shift speed and driving pleasure, you can also consider the 1.4T version.
Lingdong adopts the suspension form of the front MacPherson rear torsion beam, the overall performance is relatively ordinary, the front suspension is soft, but there will be a slight aftershock when passing the speed bump, the rear axle torsion beam is harder than the front axle, and the shock absorption texture is average. When driving in the city, the chassis provides a good sense of communication, but in high-speed line changes, the body will shake slightly, which is not enough to give people a sense of confidence, and is not suitable for intense driving. The noise control is at a medium level, the main source of noise is tire noise, and the gain with speed is more obvious, so it is recommended to replace the silent tires.
Lingdong is also very ordinary in the interior, there is a little public feeling, the layout is very clear, the difficulty is low, but the look and feel is relatively outdated, and the cost saved is almost spent on the configuration, all systems have sunroofs, keyless entry, automatic headlights, and steering auxiliary lighting. Considering that the price reduction is relatively large now, the cost performance is quite high.
The rear space of the Lingdong is still a certain gap compared to some A-class compact cars, but it is normal in the compact class, with enough head and knee space, and the central platform is not high, which can seat three adults, which is enough to take on the responsibility of a family car. The seat backrest angle is just right, the seat cushion length is a little shorter, tall people will feel the lack of support in the front of the thighs, and the seat cushion is medium thick, not as thick as the Nissan, but not thin either.
Due to the high fuel consumption and minor problems of the first batch of localized Elantra and Sonata, many people are also biased against the quality and reliability of Hyundai and all Korean cars. In fact, the quality of Hyundai Motors has reached the first-class level, and consumers do not need to worry about quality problems to buy the Elantra, on the contrary, it will be one of the most reliable models in its class you can buy in the Chinese market.
In terms of safety, Elantra also did a good job, in 2016 won the A-NCAP 5 star score, in 2012 ~ 2016 won the highest safety level of IIHS: TSP award, the current leader is the TSP model, that is, the safest car you can buy.
