F-Secure, formerly known as Data Fellows, is a well-known computer and network security provider in Europe and around the world. F-Secure was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland. The company's namesake product, F-Secure, is an anti-virus software with four anti-virus engines, using cloud-based real-time network protection technology, with high detection and low false positives as its main features.

In 1999, the company was successfully listed on the OMX Nordic Exchange Helsinki. In addition to Finland, F-Secure currently has branches or offices in France, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Japan, Singapore, South America and Africa, with a total of more than 170 partners.

F-Secure provides product support in 22 languages, including English, Chinese, French, Japanese, and Italian.

History

On May 16, 1988, Petri Allas and Risto Siilasmaa founded Data Fellows, a company specializing in computer training and industrial database systems.

In 1990, the main business began to shift to anti-virus software.

1991 developed its own first heuristic scanner. In September, F-PROT Professional was launched.

In 1994, the world's first website on computer security was opened, and there was an exhaustive encyclopedia of viruses.

In 1996, he received the "Finnish Innovation Award" from the President of Finland and the "European Information Technology Award" from the President of the European Commission, Jacques Santer.

In 1999, it began to expand internationally, opening branches in France, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden and China. The China branch was closed in 2004 and reopened in Hong Kong in 2008. Data Fellows is officially renamed F-Secure GmbH and listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. After the bursting of the IT bubble economy, we achieved a strong recovery through our leading business model, "Security as a Service".

The Millennium Bug Report, published in 2000, evolved into a lab blog, the first of its kind in the industry.

2002 launched its first mobile antivirus software.

2003 SQL Slammer, Shockwave, Sobig Virus Outbreak Massively. F-Secure had a high level of media exposure at the time and was named "Best PR Case of the Year 2003" by the Finnish Association of Communications Professionals.

2007 DeepGuard technology was introduced in Internet Security 2007 – a leading technology for detecting unknown malware.

2008 20th anniversary.

In 2009, the logo that had been used for many years was replaced, and the angular inverted triangle F was changed to a tornado-shaped F. At the same time, the company's slogan was replaced, and "Protecting the irreplaceable" replaced the previous "Be sure".
