LAPATE French Post logo

La Poste, one of the world's top 500 companies, was founded in 1991 and is a state-owned sector that monopolizes the postal business of France, which is mainly divided into three parts: letter business, parcel and logistics business, and financial business, and is a major enterprise in the field of postal services in Europe

La Poste is a state-owned sector that monopolizes postal services across the country, and its predecessor was the General Post Office of the French Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, which was established in 1991. With the spread of advanced communication technology, the diversification of market demand and the changing prospects of the opening up of the European postal market, the company is facing increasing competition and challenges, and its operation is also constantly experiencing difficulties. To this end, La Poste has diversified its business strategy in recent years to adapt to domestic and international market needs, and this strategy has achieved positive results.

The French postal business is divided into three parts: letter business, parcel and logistics business, and financial business, and is one of the major enterprises in the European postal field. In 2003, a total of 27 billion letters and parcels were shipped. It has 200 subsidiaries, 306,371 employees, 17,000 drop-off locations, 22 aircraft and 3 high-speed trains worldwide.

In 2001, the European market accounted for only 10 per cent, behind rivals Deutsche Post (24 per cent) and Netherlands Post (13 per cent), but La Poste has become the third largest parcel operator in the European market. In the highly competitive European parcel market, in 2002, after the Parcel and Logistics holding continued to be profitable and growing, the Postal Parcel and Logistics division also increased its revenues by 20%, with a turnover of 3.07 billion euros, or 18% of the total turnover.

Germany, France and the United Kingdom are the three major parcel markets in Europe, accounting for 60% of the business volume of the European parcel market, while La Poste is in the leading position in the postal market in all three countries, such as the first in the domestic postal parcel and courier market, the second in the German market, and the fourth in the British market.

La Poste has not only won users with its image and strength in China, but also continues to expand its business to other countries. With the parcel, logistics and correspondence business of La Poste gradually entering the international market, in the eyes of users in Europe, America and Africa, La Poste has become more than a simple French word, but also a modern French enterprise full of vitality, innovation and courage.
