Founded on February 8, 1996, Bank of Nanjing is a joint-stock commercial bank with independent legal personality composed of state-owned shares, Chinese-funded legal person shares, foreign-funded shares and many individual shares, and implements a first-class legal person system. After two name changes, Bank of Nanjing introduced International Finance Corporation and BNP Paribas as shareholders in 2001 and 2005, and was the first city commercial bank in China to initiate the listing counseling process and successfully listed in 2007. At present, it has 17 branches, 161 business outlets, and a total of nearly 8,000 employees.

Since 2006, when it was first included in the list of the world's 1,000 largest banks published by The Banker magazine, Southbank has improved its ranking year by year, and in 2016, it has risen to 152nd, up 49 places from the previous year. Bank of Nanjing is committed to exploring integrated operation.
