The history of Ningxia begins with Shuidonggou, which is the most well-preserved three-dimensional military defense system of the Great Wall of China, the earliest excavated Paleolithic cultural site in China, and is known as "the birthplace of China's prehistoric archaeology" and "the historical witness of cultural exchanges between China and the West". It is listed as one of the 100 major sites protected by the national cultural relics and one of the "100 archaeological discoveries of the most significant Chinese civilization". The Shuidonggou site records the historical testimony of ancient human beings reproducing and fighting with nature, and contains rich and precious prehistoric materials. It shows people the survival picture of ancient humans 30,000 years ago, and is the only Paleolithic site that has been formally excavated in the Yellow River area in China so far. At the same time, the Shuidonggou area is also the Grand View Garden of the ancient Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty in northern China, the beacon fire, the castle, the trench, the pier and other military defense buildings. In the protected area, the Great Wall winding eastward, the towering mounds, the simple and mysterious castles, and the deep and winding ravines are dizzying, which makes people think of the heroic scene of "the armor soldiers holding the spears and galloping the base, and the generals drawing their swords to chase the Hu soldiers".

Shuidonggou is located in the southern edge of the Ordos platform, the Yadan landform created by nature, so that here is full of majestic, peculiar barren valley charm, has experienced tens of millions of years of wind and sand carving erosion, here is concentrated in the devil's city, the camel ridge, the skyscraper cliff, the broken cloud valley, the tamaria ditch and other more than 20 places of the strange landscape of the soil forest, make people look at the strange, there is a great sigh of the wilderness of the earth, the ancient and the far. Nowadays, Shuidonggou Tourist Area has become a tourist area integrating tourism, scientific investigation, leisure and entertainment, and military exploration. With the opening of the Shuidonggou Ruins Museum and the Ningxia Great Wall Museum in 2009, the Shuidonggou Scenic Area will add new highlights. Shuidonggou Tourist Area will become the most culturally rich, the most potential and the most attractive high-quality tourist attraction in Ningxia.

Tickets: 76 for adults, 38 for students; Adult package 140 yuan/person; Student package is 120 yuan/person, children under 1.2 meters are free, the elderly (over 60 years old), the disabled, and military personnel are free of charge for the first ticket to the scenic spot with valid certificates.

Yinchuan is a Hui inhabited area, and the food and beverage are mainly rich Muslim flavors, you can taste authentic halal dishes or halal food, as well as distinctive Hui snacks, such as sweet and sour Yellow River carp, Zhongwei pigeon fish, grilled camel paws, steamed lamb, haggis, beef and mutton crisp, hand-grabbed mutton, mutton steamed buns, oil fragrant, halal cream pastries, Masanbai water chicken and other flavor dishes, as well as flavor snacks such as money hair cabbage and shabu mutton. Yinchuan's neighboring Sand Lake is rich in carp, silver carp, bighead carp, grass carp, crucian carp, as well as Wuchang fish, which is rare in the north. A. From Yinchuan→ Da Tuanjie Square→ Yinqing Expressway→ Linhe Exit→ Yinqing Expressway Auxiliary Road→ Shuidonggou

B. Starting from Yinchuan→ the Great Unity Square→ the Second Yellow River Bridge to the east, → the Yinqing Expressway auxiliary road → Shuidonggou

C. Yellow River East Binhe Avenue → Yinqing Expressway Auxiliary Road → Shuidonggou

3. Bus information:

1. Yinchuan North Gate Tourist Bus Station at 9 o'clock and 10 o'clock a total of two buses to arrive at Shuidonggou;

2. Buy a ticket for Shuidonggou at the new South Gate Bus Station and get off at the Shuidonggou Scenic Gate.
