Sanya Daxiaodongtian is located in the foothills of Nanshan Mountain, 40 kilometers west of Sanya City, founded in the Southern Song Dynasty (1187 AD), is a historic scenic spot in Hainan Province, is a Taoist cultural tourist attraction at the southern end of China, since ancient times because of its peculiar and beautiful seascape, mountain view, stone scenery and cave view known as "Qiongya's first landscape scenic spot in 800 years", has now developed into a national 5A-level tourist attraction.

Sanya's large and small caves have left many celebrity traces since ancient times. In order to promote Buddhism, the Tang Dynasty monk Jianzhen traveled east to Japan six times, and drifted to the coast of Nanshan Daxiaodongtian for the fifth time, leaving behind a history of thousands of years; At the end of the Song Dynasty and the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, Huang Daopo, a cotton spinning technology innovator in China, picked cotton textiles in this area, and boarded the ship from here to spread the cotton planting technology and cotton spinning technology in Yazhou at home and abroad; In the Song Dynasty, the five ancestors of Taoism in the south, Bai Yuchan, once practiced and preached here, so that the big and small caves had a relationship with Taoism from then on.

The otherworldly scenery of Sanya's large and small caves has also attracted countless ancient and modern celebrities, leaving a large number of praises. In 1962, Comrade Guo Moruo visited ancient times and wrote a poem "Aoshan Mountain in Yaya County", which was engraved next to the small cave. On April 17, 1993, Comrade Jiang Zemin, then General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, visited the inspection and wrote an inscription: "The blue sea is far away, and the cliff is full of spring." In January 1994, Zhao Puchu, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and president of the Buddhist Association of China, wrote an inscription for the scenic spot "Blessing is like the East China Sea, and Shoubi Nanshan".

Relying on the unique ecological resources, the mountains and seas created by heaven and the profound historical and cultural heritage, Sanya has formed six tourist areas: the "Dongtian Blessed Land" area that highlights the ancient Taoist traces, the "Fushou Nanshan" area that explores the longevity culture, the "South China Sea Dragon King" area that promotes the Chinese dragon culture, the "Cliff Inscription" area that reveals the cultural origin of the ancient Yazhou Prefecture, the "Mountains and Seas Wonders" area with the theme of coastal natural features, and the "Sanya Natural History Museum" that shows the life world 140 million years ago. There are more than 50 places to visit. Receiving more than one million tourists every year, Sanya is an international tourist scenic spot with ancient Yazhou culture as the context, bringing together traditional Chinese Taoist culture and dragon culture, integrating coastal scenery, popular science education, folk customs and coastal leisure.
