On January 9, 2015, Hong Kong's richest man Li Ka-shing's two major listed companies, Cheung Kong (Cheung Kong) and Hutchison Whampoa (Hutchison), announced a business merger and restructuring plan, and the assets of the two groups will eventually be split into two new companies registered in the Cayman Islands, Cheung Kong Hutchison Holdings Limited (Cheung Kong) and Cheung Kong Property Limited (Cheung Di), listed in Hong Kong. Cheung Wo will hold the non-real estate businesses of Cheung Kong and Hutchison.
