Beijing Lifting and Transportation Machinery Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. was established in 1958, after more than half a century of development, from the former Ministry of Machinery Industry directly under the National Lifting and Transportation Machinery Industry Technology Research Institute developed into a collection of scientific research, design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning, engineering contracting, inspection and testing, consulting and supervision services as one of the state-owned science and technology enterprises, affiliated to China Machinery Industry Group Co., Ltd.
The institute has passenger ropeway, automated logistics and warehousing, lifting machinery, material transportation and other engineering business sectors, and nearly 2,000 projects of various types of contracted construction, which is an enterprise with strong comprehensive technical strength in China's lifting and transportation machinery industry.
It plays an important role in the technological progress of China's material handling machinery industry.The institute is the chairman of the International Organization for Standardization Crane Technical Committee (ISO/TC96), and has two technical research centers: the Machinery Industry Material Handling Engineering Technology Research Center and the Beijing Automation Logistics Equipment Engineering Technology Research Center. The three national inspection centers, including the National Quality Supervision and Inspection Center for Lifting and Transportation Machinery, the National Passenger Overhead Cableway Safety Supervision and Inspection Center, and the Beijing Mining Lifting and Transportation Equipment Testing and Inspection Center, have been undertaking the inspection and testing business of the industry.
